Hey...   So I reopened this thread because it looks like I'm moderating again for a week starting Monday.  I actually haven't been around here for ages so I checked in a few times over the last few days, and it's good to see absolutely nothing has changed.  Same conversations.

BTW, for the next week I'll be closing any thread that has to do with the election, wither the NDP, and probably the sex trade workers forum.  I'll probably block the entire Rabble Reactions section just for the hell of it.  Exchanging recipies and discussing the weather will be ok.

Just kidding of course, and to get things going, this week when I have time I'm sending the NDP a stern letter with my membership card attached, and I'm putting a stop payment on my fees.   As a citizen of Oshawa, I will give my enthusiastic support locally as always, and direct my donations to my riding association.

Carry on, see ya Monday.  :)

If you find the time, check out the defacement of political placards thread... it has taken a goatish turn

Bag kitty is "kidding" of course.

Hi oldgoat. We've started squeezing a little bit of lime on our corn on the cob, of an evening. Do you think that will be OK?

I am deadly serious - to the point of researching some curried goat recipes - fortunately the influx of African immigrants over the past decade or so has made it possible to purchase goat meat in Calgary (at least if you know where to shop), rather than having to "rustle" the family pet off of someone's hobby farm. Beef gets boring after a while, and the local butcher who specialized in bison has gone out of retail sales. Sigh.

Mr. Magoo

A mouthful of goat tastes like two mouthfuls of lamb.

Sadly, I think there are only two goat recipes on the whole internet:

1) Carribean goat curry

2) Spit-roasted whole goat

I have Somali clients that just boil the stuff.  I asked a Somali colleague about this, and she told me it was not uncommon among people who were just fucking happy to eat something.  I'm not sying this is culturally specific, because I move in a world of pretty marginalized and financially stressed people, and it's just "make it edible and get it in my mouth".

Sorry, didn't mean to be a buzzkill.  I've used pomegranite sauce and rosemary with success with goat.

Since moving to Victoria, all I want is deer recipes. Well, to be honest, that's just a front since I don't really care much about eating the deer so much as killing them and their whole family.

But this belongs in the gardening thread. Hi oldgoat! This place is still here.

Welcome back old goat!

I had some fine crumbled feta over my tossed salad today - I like this goat product in small, tasty doses.

Of course, there are these goats:

Without the added pleasant taste of piss, of course. Lamb: ick.

And yup, it does belong in the gardening thread. Ask any of my friends who got to harvest their carrot crops when the season opened in November.

oldgoat

Thank you Smitty, that is exactly like moderating babble

Well that was a relatively uneventful week.  Two bannings, and I think three of the gentlest reminders all together.  Thanks all.  See ya the next time I pass through town.   *rides off into the sunset*

Happy trails to you, until we meet again!

kid and goat are much leaner than lamb and mutton, so somewhat different cooking techniques:

Thank you lagatta.  I'd probably make a lovely pot roast with rosemary, onions, and some root vegetables.

Unionist, you and I are probably the only two on this board who could sing that entire song.

A bottle or can of our local St-Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is great in a stew or braise...

I've also tenderized old goat (sorry) in a crockpot with this, and some spices.

Pressure cookers, everyone always seems to forget how wonderful they are... toss even the stringiest toughest old goat imaginable into one for a couple of hours and I dare you to tell it apart from fresh kid.Laughing

Mr. Magoo

I love my pressure cooker -- I mostly use it for beans (when I haven't soaked any, but need some) or quick stock.  The upside:  kidney beans, from dry to tender in 40 minutes.  The downside:  you can't just lift the lid to check for seasoning or done-ness.

oldgoat

Oh Shit!  I forgot to ban Magoo just for old times sake.
