Whether or not a passport is or can be "pristeen" after an explosion has absolutely nothing to do with whether it is a fake. So what are you crowing about?

It was pretty obvious it was likely to be a fake. ISIS gets to further fan the flames , because the Islamaphobes will continuously recite the "fact" ad nauseum anyway.

Who is behind ISIS?

Good question.

The CIA?  Pentagon?  Military-industrial complex?

The war industry wants the 21st Century to be a long, drawn-out battle for decades to come between the West & the terrorist organizations, but without proof of such collaboration, it is very difficult to challenge the pro-war agenda.

We're also expected to believe that the USA, UK, France, Israel, Canada,  etc, do not themselves constitute the most violent terrorist states the world has ever known.  Entire swaths of humanity, millions upon millions, where they haven't been exterminated outright, have been turned into refugees fleeing for their lives because of the terrorist policies and collective work of these cutthroat commercial enterprises, aka 'elected' western governments.  As always, it's innocent people from the four corners who are forced to suffer for the crimes of these purveyors of state terrorism.  All they offer us are warnings of more violence to come, due to the fact that their violent policies will not be altered one iota.  The entire history of Europe and the European settlement of North America, along with everywhere else, amounts to one long and unmitigated account of state terrorism, centuries upon centuries in the making.

from Larry Chin....France had foreknowledge of imminent attacks and preparations were underway weeks before November 13th, including emergency meetings with CIA director John Brenanan, and unusual advanced preparation of first responders—who happened to be ready in Paris on November 13th.

A massive cyberattack—one beyond the capabilities of the terrorists–took down French security systems prior to and during the incident.

French officials knew the attackers and were tracking them continuously for a significant period, yet did nothing to stop them.

From the orchestration and execution of the atrocities themselves, to the response, to the reaction, the signs of long planning, scripting, choreography, and calculation are evident.

There will be incompetence excuses (“we were caught off guard”), hopelessness and chaos excuses (“we cannot predict nor stop anything”), and other variations. But they fail to explain evidence to the contrary.

It is the war itself—its architects as well as its murdering operatives—that must be condemned.

The killers who coldly executed innocent people acted on orders from handlers. The handlers themselves had handlers. And they in turn took orders from individuals occupying high positions of power. It is these individuals who must be identified and exposed; their war agenda resisted and stopped. For the sake of what is left of humanity....

....this message must be broadcast loud and clear...the desperation expressed in this article must be appreciated!

Terrorist Attacks in Paris: Can Tragedy Bring Change?   -   by Diana Johnstone

"The chaos is spreading from the Middle East into Europe. An endless stream of unidentifiable refugees and migrants trudge through the Balkans towards the promised lands of Germany and Sweden. Fights are breaking out between national groups.

And now Paris has suffered the sort of attacks that are familiar to Beirut or Russia. The big question is: What next? Will this fear cause people to wake up to reality and think clearly?

The situation is complicated but not at all impossible to understand, even though it makes no sense. The chaos began in two places: Israeli conquest of Palestine and US exploitation of Islamic fanatics in Afghanistan to undermine the Soviet Union..."

For what it’s worth, here’s my advice to Trudeau. Stick to your guns, stick to the plan. Bring in the refugees and the stop the bombing. It’s not like the old plan — a decade of invasion, bombing runs and assassination-by-drone — has done much good, has it?

For my small part, I plan to do what most Parisians are doing today. They’re not succumbing to the fear. They’re living life. I still intend to visit Paris in the spring — as I’ve done many times. I’ll do so knowing that if, by some remote chance, I find myself in the wrong place and time, it might be my last visit to that beautiful city. And I don’t expect any so-called security service to do much to stop it.

Saskatchewan Premier Wall Wants Trudeau To Suspend Syrian Refugee Plan

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/sask-premier-brad-wall-asks-feds...

Sastkatchewan Premier Brad Wall wants the federal government to suspend its plan to bring in 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of the year. 'Surely we do not want to be date-driven or numbers driven in an endeavour that may affect the safety of our citizens and the security of our country.'

Several US governors are threatening to halt efforts to allow Syrian refugees into their states amid heightened concerns that terrorists might use the refugee process as cover to sneak across borders."

It's consistent with ideas in circulation that say Canada should readily lend itself out to US led coalitions of the willing, who themselves have done what they could toward the creation of yet another flood of refugees, but wash it's hands of the after-effects.  Essentially doubling down on cruelty.

bekayne, we are infinitely more likely to be killed in a so-called traffic "accident" ("accidents" that are part of carcentric, petroleum-centric capitalist normalcy).

I'm a little upset by the tone of some comments, and it certainly isn't because I value my friends in Paris more than those who live in poorer and less exalted places. I certainly agree that the endless "war on terror" only fuels all kinds of terror, East and West, North and South. But sometimes we have to be a little more attuned to how people are feeling as we set about to address the underlying causes and culprits.

I think he has a point.

Bringing in 25'000 refugees in a month is irresponsible.  We need more time to figure out how to process them. 6000 a week poses both a health risk and a security risk.

Where are we going to put them all? Are we going to evict Canadian citizens out of their homes and put them in tents in order to house the refugees like we did with the 5000 refugees from Kosovo?  What kindof security are we going to have?  Are we going to pay police over time? Hire security guards? Order soldiers to cancel their Christmas vacation in order to watch them? Will they be armed?

The government is so horny to get them here they aren't thinking about all the little things.

The Liberals made that promise without thinking and now they have to go through with it or else lose face.

Paladin1

I'm not surprised France knew about the attacks before hand. It's no different than how we operate in Canada or North America.

If France would have moved in the minute they got wind some "low level" ISIS members were going to attack they would have probably caught them but the more valuable experienced ones would have for the most part escaped.

The longer they wait the more INT they gather and the increased chance that they can take down the bigger players.  Doing that however puts civilians at risk. Wait too long and the bad guys put their plan into action and people die, as we just seen.  The government balances high value prisoners with our lives.

Mr. Magoo

When things like this happen it's pretty much inevitable that someone will claim "THE GOVERNMENT KNEW!!" -- as though "the government" knew where and when and how, and just decided that stopping it wasn't worth their time.

But of course if the government, upon knowing that something big is going to happen in the next month, somewhere, decides to (let's say) impose a curfew, or conduct random checks, or deploy extra law enforcement or whatever then "they're ignoring my civil liberties on the basis of some vague 'something' that they say is supposed to happen!!"

Pretty much damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

Let's imagine that the federal government has been made aware that a terrorist attack is going to occur somewhere in Ontario between now and December.  What should they be allowed to do in order to prevent this?  What should they be EXPECTED to do?

Only When We See The War Criminals In Our Midst Will The Blood Begin To Dry  -  by John Pilger

http://dissidentvoice.org/2015/11/only-when-we-see-the-war-criminals-in-...

"...Last year, the former French Foreign Minister Roland Dumas revealed that 'two years before the Arab spring,' he was told in London that a war on Syria was planned.

'I am going to tell you something,' he said in an interview with the French TV channel LPC, 'I was in England two years before the violence in Syria on other business. I met top British officials, who confessed to me that they were preparing something in Syria. 'Britain was organising an invasion of rebels into Syria...Their operation goes way back. It was prepared, preconceived and planned.'

The only effective opponents of ISIS are accredited demons of the West - Syria, Iran, Hezbollah. They only obstacle is Turkey, an 'ally' and a member of NATO, which has conspired with the CIA, MI6 and the Gulf medievalists to channel support to the Syrian 'rebels', including those now calling themselves ISIS.

Supporting Turkey in its long-held ambition for regional dominance by overthrowing the Assad government beckons a major conventional war and the horrific dismemberment of the most ethnically diverse state in the Middle East. A truce - however difficult to achieve - is the only way out of this imperial maze; otherwise the beheadings will continue.

Together with a truce, there should be an immediate cessation of all shipments of war materials to Israel and recognition of the State of Palestine. The issue of Palestine is the region's most festering open wound, and the off-stated justification for the rise of Islamic extremism.

Only when we recognize the war criminals in our midst will the blood begin to dry."

Any possibility of toning down the nonsensical propaganda that frequently permeates this place?

After Paris attacks, what does Islamic State want?

People pay tribute to victims outside Le Carillon restaurant, one of the attack sites in Paris, Nov. 16, 2015.

As always after a major terrorist attack on the West, the right question to ask after the slaughter in Paris is: What were the strategic aims behind the attack? This requires getting your head around the concept that terrorists have rational strategies, but once you have done that the motives behind the attacks are easy to figure out. It also becomes clear that the motives have changed.

The 9/11 attacks on the United States followed the classical terrorist strategy of trying to trick the target government into overreacting in ways that ultimately serve the terrorists’ interests. Al-Qaida’s goal was to sucker the U.S. into invading Muslim countries.

Al-Qaida was a revolutionary organization whose purpose was to overthrow existing Arab governments and take power in the Arab countries, which it would then reshape in accord with its extreme Islamist ideology. The trouble was that Islamist movements were not doing very well in building mass support in the Arab world, and you need mass support if you want to make a revolution.

Osama bin Laden’s innovation was to switch the terrorist attacks from Arab governments to Western ones, in the hope of luring them into invasions that would radicalize a large number of Arabs and drive them into the arms of the Islamists. His hopes were fulfilled by the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Once the Western troops went in, there was a steep decline in terrorist attacks on Western countries. Al-Qaida wanted Western troops to stay in the Middle East and radicalize the local populations, so it made no sense to wage a terrorist campaign that might make Western countries pull their troops out again.

The resistance in Iraq grew quickly and and attracted Islamist fighters from many other Arab countries. The organization originally known as “Al-Qaida in Iraq” underwent several name changes; first to “Islamic State in Iraq” in 2006, then to “Islamic State in Iraq and Syria” — ISIS for short — in 2013 and finally to simply “Islamic State” in 2014. But the key personnel

and the long-term goals remained the same throughout.

The man who now calls himself the “Caliph” of Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, first joined al-Qaida in Iraq and started fighting the U.S. occupation forces in Iraq in 2004. But along the way the strategy changed; ISIS eventually grew so strong that it conquered the extensive territories in Syria and Iraq that now make up Islamic State. Popular revolutions were no longer needed. The core strategy now is simply conquest.

In that case, why are Islamic State and al-Qaida still attacking Western targets? One reason is because the jihadi world is now split between two rival jihadi franchises that are competing for supporters.

Spectacular terrorist operations against Western targets appeal to both franchises because they are a powerful recruiting tool in jihadi circles. But Islamic State has a further motive: it actually wants Western attacks on it to cease.

It’s a real state now, with borders and an army and a more or less functional economy. It doesn’t want Western forces interfering with its efforts to consolidate and expand that state, and it hopes that terrorist attacks on the West may force them to pull out.

The policy was announced MONTHS ago, back in the Spring, by Trudeau & the Liberals, in the House of Commons.

It wasn't just something they made up on the campaign trail.

NorthReport

Thank goodness people like Harper and Bush are no longer in charge as if their policies produced any meaningful solutions.

Fearing Fear Itself

Like millions of people, I’ve been obsessively following the news from Paris, putting aside other things to focus on the horror. It’s the natural human reaction. But let’s be clear: it’s also the reaction the terrorists want. And that’s something not everyone seems to understand.

Take, for example, Jeb Bush’s declaration that “this is an organized attempt to destroy Western civilization.” No, it isn’t. It’s an organized attempt to sow panic, which isn’t at all the same thing. And remarks like that, which blur that distinction and make terrorists seem more powerful than they are, just help the jihadists’ cause.

Think, for a moment, about what France is and what it represents. It has its problems — what nation doesn’t? — but it’s a robust democracy with a deep well of popular legitimacy. Its defense budget is small compared with ours, but it nonetheless retains a powerful military, and has the resources to make that military much stronger if it chooses. (France’s economy is around 20 times the size of Syria’s.) France is not going to be conquered by ISIS, now or ever. Destroy Western civilization? Not a chance.

So what was Friday’s attack about? Killing random people in restaurants and at concerts is a strategy that reflects its perpetrators’ fundamental weakness. It isn’t going to establish a caliphate in Paris. What it can do, however, is inspire fear — which is why we call it terrorism, and shouldn’t dignify it with the name of war.

The point is not to minimize the horror. It is, instead, to emphasize that the biggest danger terrorism poses to our society comes not from the direct harm inflicted, but from the wrong-headed responses it can inspire. And it’s crucial to realize that there are multiple ways the response can go wrong.

It would certainly be a very bad thing if France or other democracies responded to terrorism with appeasement — if, for example, the French were to withdraw from the international effort against ISIS in the vain hope that jihadists would leave them alone. And I won’t say that there are no would-be appeasers out there; there are indeed some people determined to believe that Western imperialism is the root of all evil, and all would be well if we stopped meddling.

But real-world examples of mainstream politicians, let alone governments, knuckling under to terrorist demands are hard to find. Most accusations of appeasement in America seem to be aimed at liberals who don’t use what conservatives consider tough enough language.

A much bigger risk, in practice, is that the targets of terrorism will try to achieve perfect security by eliminating every conceivable threat — a response that inevitably makes things worse, because it’s a big, complicated world, and even superpowers can’t set everything right. On 9/11 Donald Rumsfeld told his aides: “Sweep it up. Related and not,” and immediately suggested using the attack as an excuse to invade Iraq. The result was a disastrous war that actually empowered terrorists, and set the stage for the rise of ISIS.

And let’s be clear: this wasn’t just a matter of bad judgment. Yes, Virginia, people can and do exploit terrorism for political gain, including using it to justify what they imagine will be a splendid, politically beneficial little war.

It's a better question than they perhaps intended. With all the zipping up and battening down and spending on security that has occurred since 9/11, why are western nations still getting spanked by the terrists? It's getting a little silly, really, at least until one can acknowledge that the true purpose of the terrorism we're seeing is destabilization and keeping the war on terror marketable.

People who don't recognize this are literally wasting their time and their lives discussing silly bullshit.

Pondering

Paladin, we don't have refugees massing at our borders that we then try to identify. We are drawing refugees from UN camps. We can focus on families with young children, single mothers, and family reunification. This substantially reduces the risk of terrorists using it as a means of getting into the country.

As many are currently living in tents, living on military bases will be an improvement which will likely be a first stop for many of them before they are disbursed to communities.

Pondering

We feed into terrorism when we inflate the risk.

In an interview with CBC News HERE earlier this week, Canada’s new defence minister Harjit Sajjan said that “ISIS is a threat, no doubt about that. Should we fear it? No. The Canadian population should have full confidence in all the security services to keep us safe.”

That was before the ISIS-organized attacks on Paris claimed the lives of at least 127 people, and struck fear into the hearts of the people of France.

http://www.640toronto.com/2015/11/14/shoul/

This remains true. We are more likely to get hit by lightening or slip in the bathtub than we are of dying at the hands of a terrorist.

In Canada we are more vulnerable to homegrown converts who were attracted by the violence. They would find another reason to kill, or no reason like the school shootings.

ISIL tells people to stay home and commit acts here rather than going to Syria to join the battle there but suicide missions aren't that attractive to most young men. They want to be part of that caliphate, be given wives and slaves. They want the glory and they want to be alive to enjoy it.

France is much more vulerable than Canada because of the way refugees arrive and because of the failure to integrate young muslim men into society. The higher risk in Canada is young men self-radicalizing, lone wolves, not terrorist cells.

ISIL may call for strikes against Canada but it isn't going to sink resources into planning and executing a Paris style incident here. Paris, New York, LA, Washington, London, etc.

Did the leadership of France over successive regimes enter into secret agreements with the terrorist movements which implicated them?

That the attacks were consequence of the betrayal attempts?

That the secret forces within France and NATO involved in these agreements betrayed by the French leadership backpedaling, engage in support of the Paris attack?

What does this imply for Canada? Who clearly have likewise engaged through Harper´s regime in such secret agreements!

Even after a senseless massacre that left over 150 civilians dead, Parisians are choosing compassion over blind hatred, and are willing to go toe-to-toe with racists spouting anti-Islamic rhetoric.

At a silent vigil today for victims of the attacks in downtown Paris, a group of racists holding a banner calling for the expulsion of Muslims was forced to retreat by a much larger crowd of several hundred, chanting “Fascists go home!” Eventually, the Islamophobic protesters were forced across the street. After taking back the square, the large crowd of mourners began singing France’s national anthem, Le Marseillaise. Watch a video of the confrontation here:
