Gravis poll: 35% say Trump won the debate, 25% say Cruz, 14% say Rubio

Last night during the debate I tweeted, “If you can’t decide who won, that means Trump probably did.” That was a half-joke aimed at media people who are constantly declaring Rubio or Cruz the winner at these things only to see Trump’s numbers rise the next week. But there’s truth to it too: If, by the end, no one has made a striking impression of the sort Carly Fiorina did after the second debate, then by default viewers’ thoughts will turn to the 800-pound celebrity gorilla in the room. Right now, Trump only needs to appeal to Republicans. In 10.5 months, he'd need to appeal to all Americans.

I retain the belief that he's simply too bulbous and absurd to do that, but at the same time I recall once thinking the same of Rob Ford. :0

Americans continue to make the same mistake over and over by gravitating toward candidates that best represents the way they think. In the case of republicanism, if the candidates put forward actually did represent the thought processes of your average supporter, there wouldn't be a world left in which to cast a vote.

According to a new Public Policy Polling (PPP) poll, 30 percent of Republican primary voters nationally support bombing Agrabah, the made up home of Disney’s Aladdin, and 34 percent support Donald Trump for president.

Of course, Trump leads the crowded pack of GOP presidential wannabes overall with a whopping 34 percent support nationally. His nearest rival, Ted Cruz, stands at 18 percent. Of those Republicans who would like to bomb the fictional land of Aladdin, support for Trump is at 45 percent. To their credit, 57 percent of Republicans at least responded that they weren’t sure if the U.S. should bomb the Arab sounding land while 13 percent opposed a bombing campaign in the Disney created nation.
