A black day for Canada
February 4th,2016 will go down in history as a black day for Canada as our trade minister Chrystia Freeland is down in New Zealand signing on the dotted line for the Trans Pacific Partnership.
Does she really know what she is signing? Probably not. In all her press coverage she continually refers to the TPP as a “free trade” deal and brags about how many consultations she has had with Canadians-70 at last count. She is a parrot with a limited vocabulary. Those of us who have actually taken the trouble to take a closer look know it is about much more. It is a very real threat to this country and an attack on the last remnants of our sovereignty.
She will no doubt prattle on about the TPP terrified of getting into any substantive dialogue with Canadians as that’s when the truth rolls out. Openness, transparency and consultation are mere window dressing when the decision has already been made.
In the meantime our job is to make sure this corporate power grab never gets to Parliament! We must demand that it goes to a referendum before then.
One thing I can assure you. Once it gets to parliament it’s a slam dunk, we lose, game over.
It’s going to take some big numbers to get the message across so let’s do it
