'Crimeans Reject Kiev's Electricity - It Shows They Don't Want Poroshenko'

"Crimeans vote against an electricity contract with Ukraine was a positive step that demonstrated to the West that the peninsula doesn't want to be part of the Kiev regime and feels a greater affinity with Russia, says author James Petras, a professor at Binghamton University.

Kiev insisted that a new contract - which would replace the one that expired Dec 31 - would define the peninsula as part of Ukraine..."

Sanctions: Economic Aggression - Revisited   - by Christopher Black

http://journal-neo.org/2016/01/14/sanctions-economic-aggression-revisited/

"The Americans are engaging in a 'fight and talk' strategy, appearing from time to time to be open to cooperation but always using negotiations to set up the next step of aggression.

Once a war has started it can only proceed to its logical end. since the economic war on Russia has not brought about Russia's capitulation in its defence of the peoples of Crimea, the Donbass and Syria, there can be little doubt that the economic aggression will escalate until logic requires open war and the risk of nuclear annihilation."

Which begs the question: Does the US/Nato expect that they can win by causing Russia to fully embark on another cold war which will bankrupt their country? The US/Nato fully recognizing that MAD is making the further conquest of Syrian and Iran a futile effort?

We have a propaganda babble to fight as Canadians. What was impossible for German intellectuals to win against the rise of Nazism may be winnable today with the internet. But we are up against huge odds.

Lavrov: Policy of Restraining Russia Continues

"The US and EU are still pursuing a dangerous policy of restraining Russia, including the NATO build-up near its borders, Russia's foreign minister said. 'We're not interested in the EU getting weaker, let alone, the union splitting up. We are interested in a united and strong European Union, a comfortable partner on the economy and all other issues. But we cannot fail to see the current developments,' the Russian foreign minister said, emphasizing the decisive role of Germany in maintaining EU unity."

The latest position of the Canadian government is clearly stated in #264 by Pam Goldsmith Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. There is no reason to believe it is other than stated at this time.

There is of course no essential difference of positions from CONS or No Difference Party representatives. The Russian Ambassador hopes that reason and dialogue will prevail. There is no indication of such change and the Liberal position remains as repeatedly stated:

Canadian 'progressives' are presently an impotent largely collaborationist aspect of this reality. There are few indications of serious interest or dissent. Thank you for your reply. You didn't give me an answer on why the ambassador commented twice on there being new hope with a change in government. I think that it is because Trudeau and his go-betweens with the Russians have shown hope in a nuanced way. I've attempted to introduce the idea that Obama did it for Syria and Iran but you don't want to go there with me so far. I'm suggesting that Trudeau is operating behind the scenes in the same way.

I appreciate that you don't agree with me. I'm satisfied at just being able to put the thought in your head.

We're seeing Canadians coming up with a better appreciation of foreign politics every day. Paladin spoke enouragingly just today on his new understanding of the idea of Canada getting the hell out of Nato. I am further on in my understanding than I was 5 years ago myself. And I'm betting that you are too. If not then you would have been out in the woods all alone 5 years ago.

There is no evidence to support your speculations on Trudeau the selfie-king and his unknown go-betweens. My answer was that the Russian ambassador's job is to pursue the possibility the new government may come to its senses. The main source of pressure, if any,  to normalize the Cold War state of relations with Russia, is presently being advanced by European business interests who suffer from the US-imposed sanctions as much as Russia does. Dion may have picked up on this Euro discontent in Davos, and perhaps there is linkage to CETA. A vassal is a vassal not an independent actor. Start with that Canadian foreign policy reality.

Fair enough NDPP. There is nothing that can ever absolve the US of their war crimes and their crimes against humanity. And as such, the leader of that country wuould be hung from his heels in the Hague, his throat cut, and left to bleed out on the ground to attract rats.

That is the price one pays for accepting leadership of any country, should said country be vanquished. Saddam paid the price, regardless of whether or not he was the criminal in the US led escapade. Obama should pay but never will and neither will Bush1 or Bush2.

Having said that, there is no other explanstion I know of that can explain how the US has wound up in a position of being completely snookered on their PNAC plans for the conquest of both Syria and Iran.

If you can't discuss it in a rational way than that doesn't speak badly for me NDPP.

Is the US Preparing a 'Color Revolution' in Russia

"...The FSB is in possession of definite information that plots are being hatched in the West to stir up political turmoil in Russia as the country heads for crucial parliamentary elections in October.

Altogether, a grim scenario has been projected here with regard to Russian-American relations through the remaining period of Barack Obama. The core issue for Russia all along is that the US interferes in its internal politics with a view to create disharmony and weaken the Kremlin, forcing it to adopt policies that are in harmony with American regional and global strategies.

The US cannot countenance Russia (or any other country) in such nationalistic mode, presenting formidable headwind against its global strategies. Trump or Sanders winning the US presidency could result in more friendly relations with Moscow. But there are many in the various bureaucracies, especially in the Pentagon, who have budgets depending on hostile relations with Russia (and China).

Their voices will be hard to silence. Should the US really attempt to create some kind of trouble around elections in Moscow we can expect an intensification of conflicts in both Ukraine and Syria during the summer, if only to intensify the 'Putin is evil' message the Western media spread in their populations."

And for this Russophobic conditioning, Babble doubtless will remain fertile ground...

NATO resumes dialogue with Russia

Quote:
NATO and Russia held their highest level talks in nearly two years on April 20 in a bid to ease tensions and renew regular contacts.

It was the first meeting of the Russia-NATO Council (RNC), established in 2002, ever since the Alliance cut off all ties with Moscow over Ukraine in early 2014....

Tensions have flared in the past week, involving the US military and Russian planes in the Baltic Sea. Russian warplanes flew over an US missile destroyer close to the Baltic Fleet home base in what the US called a «simulated attack». In another incident a US spy plane was intercepted by a fighter in the vicinity of Russia’s border. The US never explained the reason for coming so close to Russia’s coast....

According to Alexander Grushko, Russia’s ambassador to NATO, «Policy and military planning of NATO that base on deterrence of Russia are incompatible with any plans to create confidence-building measures»....

The parties failed to bridge the differences. No decisions were announced by the end of the meeting.

The author thinks the meeting reflects a bit of realism on NATO's part. But this last bit is interesting...

Quote:
The meeting itself, convened upon NATO’s initiative, testifies to the fact that the Alliance openly admitted the failure of its policy to isolate Russia or tackle any major international problem without it.

Which is pretty significant. Even if the neo-cons and some elements in the military lick their lips with dribbling enthusiasm for thermonuclear war, there are others who don't share this cannibalistic view.

Today we're told by anti-Russian propagandists that the Soviet Union helped start WWII on account of the August 1939 Nazi-Soviet non-aggression pact. But here's the popular British historian AJP Taylor writing about said pact in his 1961 book 'The Origins of the Second World War:

'It is difficult to see what other course Soviet Russia could have followed...(The pact) warded off what they had most dreaded - a united capitalist attack on Russia.' And of course in today's neocon written narrative there is no mention that the Soviets had tried for years to get Britain and France to agree to an anti-Nazi pact - the one thing that could have prevented WWII."
