Europe is facing an unprecedented influx of refugees who are fleeing conflict-ridden zones in Africa and the Middle East, particularly Syria. According to figures released by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than one million refugees reached Europe's shores in 2015.

Well, in fairness to the US excuse-makers, even Canada's Liberal government, much trumpeted for its generosity toward the Syrian refugees, have announced that they aren't accepting certain demographics from the Middle East. To wit, single, childless males.

That isn't true and never was.

The UN did all the selecting and they confirmed they were not asked to exclude single childless men. The UN priorizes the vulnerable and that does include some young single childless men who have a specific vulnerability like sexual orientation or illness. The majority that are designated amongst the most vulnerable are families, especially headed by single women and the elderly or chronically ill.

Well, this is interesting. On Nov. 26th, the Canadian Press quoted a named civil-servant as stating that single men would NOT, in fact, be excluded from the influx of refugees.

However, almost three weeks later, babble ran an opinion piece stating that "...Justin Trudeau's government confirmed reports that Canada will screen out single men in its bid to bring in 25,000 Syrian refugees over the next few months."

But the link in that sentence takes you to an article about the original, unconfirmed reports, not about any confirmation on Trudeau's part. So, either the writer neglected to include the most up-to-date link, or she was talking out of her ear when she referenced Trudeau's supposed confirmation.

So, I will retract my claim that the government had a policy of excluding all(heterosexual) single men. It is kind of odd how long that impression has remained in the public consciousness, though.

Don't think the progressive verdict on that quote was that it was just a harmless observation about infrastructure capacity.

Plus, the phrase "tsunami of Muslims" leads me to suspect that Escobar's not just fretting about Europe's ability to build more houses in time. I'm not sure what the point would be of mentioning the religion of the refugees, if he wasn't talking about cultural assimilation.

In their ‘picture-perfect’ view of the world, only “racists”, “fascists”, and “white supremacists” would ever dare allege that overwhelming refugee influxes could destabilize host countries, but lo and behold, that’s exactly what happened in Ethiopia’s Gambella region. The western area of the country is hosting 270,000 mostly-Nuer South Sudanese refugees, despite only having an indigenous population of about 300,000. This has contributed to Ethiopia becoming the largest refugee-hosting country in Africa, and it also means that there are almost more refugees in Gambella than there are locals. Seeing as how most South Sudanese refugees are Nuer, this has destabilized the already tense ethnic balance in this part of Ethiopia and can be said to have demographically reengineered it to a large degree. Under such pressure, it’s little wonder that all that it took was a small-scale vehicular accident to put the region on the edge of civil war.

"Cultural Marxists" is a term I have previously only heard from "white nationalist" and paleoconservative types. I have to wonder if Michel Chossoduvsky is trying to do a "LaRouche", and morph his ostensibly left-wing organization into a fascist cult, or if he really is just too clueless to know where this rhetoric is coming from. (Even if you're unfamilar with paleocon ideas, the usage of "marxist" as a blanket insult should be set off some alarms.)

I guess if I wanted to be conspiratorial, I could speculate that globalresearch is actually a neo-con false-flag, designed to discredit opposition to US imperialism by linking it with racism and reaction. Seems unlikely, but is probably the kind of thing that would seem convincing to the mindset of that site's followers.

Now, the instrumental role of NATO in the collapse of the Libyan state in 2011; the Syrian war that is now going into its fifth year; ISIS; Ukraine, and, above all, the European refugee crisis appears to have provided the Duginists a rare opportunity to exploit existing splits arising among cross-sections of the western antiwar Left as well as among activists in the Muslim community itself in order to recruit among these groups. It seems that nobody on either side of this divide is capable of acknowledging that the influx of refugees, while resutling from disastrous policies pursued by The Other Guy, might not actually have been a deliberately planned consequence.

And what was the response of the authorities in Germany, a country who does not think twice about jailing elderly women for thoughtcrime or legislating and promoting various forms of cultural Marxist ideologies like feminism? It was to suggest that the victims were largely responsible and should conduct themselves in a way that does not invite an assault upon them. This was, of course, after the authorities and the press remained entirely silent on the whole affair for as long as possible before the sheer number of victims reached a level where it could no longer be kept under the rug.

He calls for the end of immigration into Europe, all Syrian refugees being sent back to Syria, and an end to "political correctness".
