I cannot comment on FB censorship only on Reddit where I have personal experience and other people complain about it as well on many forums. Just google "Reddit Cesnorship complaints" and see what I mean.  ALso if you spend a little time on this issue you will see 6 former moderators at Reddit came clean and confessed that the owner of Reddit is in fact a staunch Republican and contributed big bucks to George W. Bush in the past. One of their CEOs also resigned over the censorship issue but was gagged in order to collect her severeance package.

I am not sure if the government leans on them or if Advanced Publications (47th largest company in the world and owners of Reddit) are simply pro globalization, but the censorship is obvious and real. Reddit is not the only public forum doing pro-government censorship and in fact it is not always the forum admin doing the deleting.  Uncle Sam now has a full-time staff of 180 hackers that do nothing but search the internet an delete pro-Snowden, pro-Manning, pro-Wikileaks comments along with leaks from whistle blowers who can document serious corruption within various law enforcement agencies like the SEC and FBI (like the Al Chalem murder case). But in a letter Gorcyca wrote to Harper in 2006, he offered to lead the RCMP and OSC right to the not-so-missing money off-shore in exchange for sanctuary in Canada. Also be sure to read the 11 page sworn report by Canadian private investigator Ed Reiken in the Law Society complaint and at the Supreme Court archives which for some strange reason "modified" in December of 2010  - 2 full years after the case was decided.
