Interesting.
Isn't PSAC the union that former interim NDP Leader Nycole Turmel used to head?

Yes.
Debater, what evidence do you have that labor is "stacking" the convention? There is apt oceans that allows for labor representation. Do you have evidence this process is being abused? If not you should not use words like stacked. Oh, and your anti-NDP bias is not evidence.
It is the main union for federal employees and not known for being particularly radical. Its head office in is Ottawa. I guess that has given that unon the opportunity to get a good sense of his leadership.
What I meant by "stacking" is that Jerry Dias and his union are clearly trying to influence the vote by telling people to put off the leadership decision for another 2 years. They are obviously trying to sway delegates into holding off the leadership decision by use of this psychological tactic.
I'm not saying it's anything against the rules, just that they are trying to influence the vote in favour of Mulcair and their own agenda.
That's their right and choice to do so if they wish.
Unifor is the descendant of this union.
They are obviously trying to sway delegates into holding off the leadership decision by use of this psychological tactic.
That's not exactly a Jedi mind trick.
Unless you mean that ALL words, when you think about it, are sort of a psychological tactic.
"He suggested we should order a pizza, and immediately my mind thought of ording pizza, as though that thought had been 'planted' in my head somehow!!!"
But Weir didn't announce which way he was going to vote, or make a prediction on whether Mulcair would survive or not.
I think that is what the author is saying in that article.
now you're starting to sound like terryt but btu but... with no substance and very close to untruths

I think you've missed the point, Magoo. Whether deliberately or not I'll leave up to you.
The point is that the union tactic is to kick the can down the road. That is, instead of actually taking a position re leadership, they suggest we don't make a decision now, but wait a couple of years. I think it's pretty obvious that two years hence their refrain would be 'we can't have a leadership convention now because it's too close to an election'.
Like you, I wouldn't refer to their tactic as a 'psychological' gambit, It is, however, a standard delaying tactic.
Whether deliberately or not I'll leave up to you.
If I were doing it deliberately, I'd say I wasn't. And if I wasn't, I'd say I wasn't. In either case I'd say I wasn't.
So you can't just pass the buck to me. Get some bloodhounds on the trail.

Which is, actually, a position re: leadership.
There's a very nice video interview with Audrey McLaughlin on the CPAC site here:
http://www.cpac.ca/en/ndp-convention/
I can't get a direct link, but it's easy to find in the scroll of interviews. She says some nice things about Mulcair and her personal connection to hm, which makes me soften my harsh opinion of Tomsomewhat... I've always respected Audrey tremendously.
Canada's Pseudo Left Rallies Round Discredited Pro-War, Pro-Austerity NDP
http://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2016/04/08/ndpc-a08.html
"In the run-up to this weekend's federal New Democratic Party (NDP) convention, Canada's pseudo-left has stepped up its efforts to promote this discredited big business party as an instrument for opposing austerity and even fighting for socialism. The claim that the NDP can be a vehicle of working class struggle is preposterous. But that is no obstacle for the likes of Fightback, the International Socialists, Socialist Action and the NDP's moribund Socialist Caucus.
However, it does require that they shamelessly distort, falsify and lie about the political record, social composition and class orientation of the NDP...."
Should we create a Predictions thread where everyone can predict what level of support Mulcair will get tomorrow?
Whether deliberately or not I'll leave up to you.If I were doing it deliberately, I'd say I wasn't. And if I wasn't, I'd say I wasn't. In either case I'd say I wasn't.

You must agree that suggesting a delay is not really a position re: leadership. It is, in fact, a diversionary tactic. There are two positions. Yes, we are in favour of Mulcair's leadership, or No, we are not in favour of Mucair's leadership. Those two would be the honest positions.
The, 'Well, let's not make a decision now' line is similar to your statement re deliberateness. It's a non-answer that tries to avoid the issue, and tries to avoid the possiblity of having to take a position on the issue.
If those calling for the delay had th courage of their convictions, they would just come out and state their position. What they've done is weasel.
I predict that he won't get 70%. He may be listening but he isn't hearing and neither is Cullen.
