Most of his supporters will vote the Democratic ticket.

Bernie Sanders started a political revolution. Now he can’t stop it.

That's Democrat spin. Why the focus on the leak rather than the despicible stuff that was in the emails?

Many people are now being left with the impression Clinton stole the nomination

Donna Brazile has made a huge personal and public apology to the Sanders people  - that is the story, and it does not look good on Clinton.

Right, the FBI is investigating spin. Sounds like Republican spin to me,

This Sanders Delegate Unleashing on Hillary Clinton Is Going Absolutely Viral

Quote:

Today at the convention, one woman best summed up the feelings of those remaining Sanders supporters who refuse to support Clinton, giving a scathing review of the choice voters are being left with heading into the general election.

Asked about whether she thought Trump was a better choice, she launched into a brutal tirade:

I don’t give a f*ck about Trump! OK? Trump is dangerous for this country, and so is Hillary Clinton!

The woman, pledged Bernie Sanders delegate Portia Boulger, went on to slam Hillary Clinton on a wide rage of topics, including her support for fracking and desire to send troops into more armed conflicts.

Boulger then called out the decision to give Debbie Wasserman Schultz a job on the Clinton campaign staff just hours after being forced from her position at the DNC:

How can America believe this when yesterday she proved to us that when you are a corrupt person, she is going to promote you. What did she do with Debbie Wasserman Schultz? She promoted her! So what does that say about the Democratic Party? We need to clean house!

Solomon also said while it was okay to vote third party in blue or red states – it was not okay in swing states – with the imperative being to defeat Donald Trump.

But the Bernie delegates are not as convinced.

While Solomon might want Bernie delegates to vote for Hillary, Bernie delegates have a different take.

They have forced DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz out.

Now they have bigger fish to fry....Russell Mokhiber, counterpunch

We have got to defeat Donald Trump and do everything we can to elect Hillary Clinton to the White house.

The best thing Hilary could do is step aside and let Bernie take the reins as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate. Otherwise, get ready for President Trump.

NorthReport

Bernie has pulled it off with the speech he needed to make tonite
He has unified the party as much as he could to get his supporters to rally behind Hillary
Good job.

Classic Bernie. Just a shame he's not the nominee.

I wonder how bad things would have had to have been for him to say the Dems had a worse night.

I reserve judgement(to see what the polls says) but I have to say he did not hold back in giving the nod to hilliary.  When she loses Bernie can not be blamed.  I have to watch 4 key states.

I Wonder.

I haven't even heard Trump speak, I just see the odd things he says come up on news sites.  I watched the Democratic National Convention for the first time a bit yesterday from a live stream.  For me, it is a lot like when I watch mainstream TV news which I really can't watch anymore.  It's all so so so fake.

There was a politician with a comedian Bernie supporter and they just weren't funny.  It's a show.  It's all fake.  The camera pans around the convention with spots on aging celebrities watching the show.  The speakers call for unity, and they can't get enough people to start cheering Hillary.  The camera pans some more and they show some of the Bernie supportors, the man in a suit with "Feel The Bern" lights glowing through the back.  I like the signs that say "Love Trumps Hate" (clever double entendre.)  The final "joke" is that Paul Simon is going to sing "Bridge over Troubled Water."  And someone shouts "bullshit."  The audience has been waiting for Paul Simon.  I hear a musician playing a Rodriguez riff before they come on -- it's "I Wonder."  Paul Simon comes on and sings his song.

Shaming the Democrats Back in Line

That's two of those today.  Are you experiencing double-posts?  Or are you trying to make that a "thing", where you show your disagreement using Morse Code for "O"?

Yeah that analogy doesn't work. A confession obtained through coercive means may be falsified. This is not the case with the dumped emails...Unless you're suggesting the DNC emails are falsified (which I haven't seen suggested anywhere). The focus on Russia is more like saying "who cares about the dead body, care about the person who found the dead body."

Of course, if you ARE suggesting the emails were falsified...good luck with that narrative Laughing

Perhaps.  Or maybe through a wiretap that just somehow lacked a warrant.  Then what?  What do we do with that?

mark_alfred

Michelle Obama gave quite the speech.  I'm betting that if we see her run for Senator of a state or political office of some sort, to gain experience, that eventually we'll be seeing her make a go for POTUS.

NorthReport

Why do you think Tulsi Gabbard quit the DNC a few months ago?

The Clintonites got caught trying to rig the nomination.

So ask yourselves who benefits?

As good as hunch as any the other Clinton spins making the rounds is Sanders benefits and my hunch is his people did it and good on him. Sanders could have blown the convention wide open over this breech and he didn't. Why not?

The problem is that criminal evidence rules are for deciding the guilt of those accused of crimes. They are not applicable in general to discovering the truth of any non-judicial matter. They are more concerned with assuring a fair system than with discovering the truth.

Mr. Magoo

So...  a "fair system" is more important, or "the truth" is?

Because lots of people would tell you that if someone confesses to a crime in an illegal wiretap, "the truth" should be what we concern ourselves with.

I guess I'm just saying that there are, in fact, two stories here, and we're not restricted to only bothering ourselves with one of them.

NorthReport

Bill Clinton appears to be hitting it out of the ballpark tonite.

People get tried in the court of public opinion all the time. Jian Ghomeshi didn't get his job back with CBC.

What? We all know Jian Ghomeshi was guilty, the crown's burden of proof is not relevant for the public to hold him in contempt. Nobody is going to pull their punches against him because of "fairness" just because he beat the legal system.

Likewise, we all know the DNC rigged the primaries in favour of Clinton and basically controls most of the American media. We knew this before the leaks, but now there's no longer plausible deniability. Just because the emails were not obtained by means that would be admissible in court is not relevant for the public to hold the DNC in contempt. Nobody is going to pull their punches against the DNC just because it's "unfair" they had a leak/got hacked.

Michael Moriarity

Mr. Magoo wrote:

For a criminal justice system, it has been the overwhelming opinion of those who have drafted due process provisions in constitutions and bills of rights around the world that fairness trumps truth.

Mr. Magoo wrote:

"Lots of people" would be foolishly consigning their countrymen to an easily abused police state, where Cardinal Richelieu's dictum applies: "If one would give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest man, I would find something in them to have him hanged."

The truth is most important in science, engineering and other mostly objective fields. Fairness and other moral considerations are more important in law and other social institutions.

A curious news item:

Quote:

It's now official: the U.S. could, conceivably, elect a woman as president this November for the first time in its history.

And that's an idea that, back in 1995, one Walmart location in Florida found "offensive." Thanks to Twitter user Nick Kapur for reminding us of this strange story:

In 1995 Walmart pulled "Someday a woman will be president" T-shirt from shelves, saying it offended "family values."

"It was determined the T-shirt was offensive to some people and so the decision was made to pull it from the sales floor," said Jane Bockholt, a spokeswoman for the company at the time.

The company also said the shirts went against "Walmart's family values."
