Why doesn't WikiLeaks release Trump's income tax returns, eh?  Frown

Hillary Clinton, Seizing on Tax Returns, Says Donald Trump Embodies ‘Rigged System’

Hillary Clinton seized on revelations that Donald J. Trump could have avoided paying income taxes for up to 18 years to unleash a new torrent of criticism of her opponent, saying he pretended to help working Americans even as he personified “the same rigged system he claims he will change.”

“He abuses his power, games the system, puts his own interests ahead of the country’s,” Mrs. Clinton told a crowd of more than 1,100 gathered for a rally on Monday at the Downtown Toledo Train Station. “It’s always Trump first, and everyone else last.”

Mrs. Clinton unleashed the attack during a previously planned economic speech in Ohio, where she has struggled to connect with white working-class voters, who have seen huge job losses amid the decades-long flow of manufacturing plants overseas.

But the revelation on Saturday night that Mr. Trump declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax returns and could have avoided paying federal taxes for years added a new impetus and an extra dose of fire and brimstone to Mrs. Clinton’s economic pitch.

She wasted little time in tying Mr. Trump’s tax practices to her broader economic message of reining in corporate excess and alleviating income inequality.

“Toledo is the kind of place where people work hard, look after one another and, yes, pay their taxes,” Mrs. Clinton said at the start of her remarks here.

And noting the defense Mr. Trump’s allies have put forth — that his handling of his taxes reflects his “genius” — Mrs. Clinton said, “What kind of a genius loses a billion dollars in a single year?”

Is WikiLeaks still relevant?

Whistle-blowing website promises to reveal more secret and "significant" documents before year's end.

It was once celebrated as a champion of transparency. But now 10-years old, WikiLeaks has lost a lot of friends.

The whistle-blowing website serves as the world's best-known source for leaked government and intelligence information.

It's exposed corruption and misuse of power in many countries, including the United States.

But WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has become increasingly controversial over the past decade.

Critics say his site is manipulated by politicians, and the way it releases classified documents is irresponsible.

Assange has been hiding in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London to avoid possible extradition to Sweden, where he faces questions over allegations of sexual assault.

Wayne MADSEN | 08.10.2016 | OPINION Hacked Files Substantiate the Clinton Foundation’s «Pay-to-Play» Extortion Racket

Recently-obtained documents emanating from a computer hack of the Clinton Foundation by the enigmatic cyber-sleuth known as «Guccifer 2.0» reinforce previous allegations that the tax-exempt foundation engaged in what amounted to a «pay-to-play» extortion racket. The most recent hacked files originated with the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and the Virginia Democratic Party and were hacked from the computer systems of the Clinton Foundation.

The recent hacked files describe a kickback scheme in which Democratic members of Congress received lucrative campaign donations from Wall Street in return for their support for the federal bailout of several financially-teetering banks, commonly known as TARP or «Troubled Asset Relief Program». One of the largest recipients of Wall Street campaign cash largesse was the House of Representative’s top Democrat, Nancy Pelosi.

Another architect of the TARP bailout who benefited from bank donations to his campaign was Massachusetts Democratic Representative Barney Frank, the chairman of the powerful House Financial Services Committee, the panel that oversees the federal government’s regulation of Wall Street. Donors to Fran’s political coffers included some of the very banks and other firms that were bailed out by TARP: Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Bank of New York Mellon, Citigroup, Capital One, Fifth Third, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, Merril Lynch, KeyCorp, and Huntington Banchares.

But while attempting to verify the email’s authenticity, Newsweek’s Kurt Eichenwald discovered that the email attributed to Blumenthal did not come from Blumenthal at all––because the email was something Eichenwald himself had written.

Wikileaks document has Hillary Clinton telling big Oil and Gas tycoons that Russia is to blame for environmentalism

Who knew? Talk about pathological Russophobia. McCarthy was just an amateur compared to Hilary Clinton.

Hilary Clinton wrote:
“We were up against Russia pushing oligarchs and others to buy media. We were even up against phony environmental groups, and I’m a big environmentalist, but these were funded by the Russians to stand against any effort, oh that pipeline, that fracking, that whatever will be a problem for you, and a lot of the money supporting that message was coming from Russia.”

Of course, as the article points out, it's members and supporters of her own party that were concerned about fracking and such. You know. Those Sanders supporters that were cheated out of the nomination for their candidate.

What a farce. No wonder HRC and at least one of her DNC staffers mused about a drone strike against Julian Assange.

One of the wildcards in the 2016 presidential election is the possibility of an "October surprise": some damning revelation from the Democratic National Committee's hacked emails that could doom the candidacy of Hillary Clinton. The subtext of Fallon’s protest is that no matter what reporters dig out in the voluminous Podesta emails, their stories will be polluted by the motives and methods behind their acquisition.

That's pretty much the same reason that courts disregard evidence obtained without a warrant.

And this drives some people pretty much nuts.  If the cops found a duffel bag of marijuana when they (illegally) searched the car, are we really all just supposed to try to forget that??!?!  How do we pretend it didn't happen just because there wasn't some fancy "warrant" for the search, or some kind of namby-pamby "reasonable cause"?

BAR: Soft Porn Tape Trumps Wikileaks Truths: Hillary's 'Private' Lies Prevail

http://blackagendareport.com/soft_porn_trumps_wikileaks

"Clinton has long been the favorite of the corporate media and her best TV friends are at NBC. The network had known for months about the 11-year-old tape in which its current employee, Billy Bush, a cousin and nephew of two presidents, joined with Trump in piggish banter degrading women.

NBC chose to release the tape at precisely the right moment to suck the air out of a new batch of Wikileaks documents that could have been catastrophic to for the Clinton campaign.

As a result, everybody and their mother knows that Trump brags about grabbing women's private parts but far fewer folks learned what Clinton said to those bankers and other One Percenters that have paid her $26 millions for private speeches.

If the contents of her bankster speeches had been divulged at the height of her primary race against Bernie Sanders, Clinton would never have won the nomination, because they reveal her as a methodical, cynical liar...

Clinton told a bunch of real estate developers that rich folks like themselves shouldn't take her public speeches to the Democratic masses too literally. Her years in politics have taught her, she said, that 'You need both a public and private position.'

She is telling the rich and powerful not to worry, because she will protect their interests while lying to the people. Had NBC not pushed the Wikileaks story to the side with their soft-porn Trump tape, Clinton's campaign would have been gravely wounded..."

I think there are quite a few serious journalists who would disagree with that claim.

The only thing I am wondering is why it took this for people to start looking seriously at Donald Trump, not his inciting violence, promises to deport people, rewrite laws and his being completely unqualified for the job from day one.

By contrast, Clinton has been raked over the coals for actions that pale in comparison to Trump's as well as the actions of past presidents.

This latest batch of wikileaks stuff shows how penny ante this stuff is.

And if you'll recall Wikileaks DID release far more damaging information just before the Democratic convention. Seems to me that is the worst they had, and at this point Julian Assange is just spinning, and pissing off even those who are on his side like Alex Jones.

Mr. Magoo

The comments on the tweet that's flogging that shirt suggest two things:

1.  a lot of people seem to think that WikiLeaks just took the low road, kind of like PETA.

2.  a lot of people seem to still be furious at Bill Clinton, and/or Hillary Clinton.

6079_Smith_W

What other people think is immaterial.

I don't think there is any question about them taking the low road, if they are going to talk about women as "bimbos".

Again, both surprising and telling, considering what Julian Assange did to wind up being a guest in the embassy.

Mr. Magoo

I just find the two camps interesting, in that one is disgusted by either the crass sexism, and/or the political opportunism of this shirt.  And the other just really, really needs to let of some steam about Clinton, 16 years later.

Quote:

They point out about twenty times in those tweets that it's actually Colin Powell who used that term in a hacked e-mail.

They only printed it on t-shirts to sell for money and to support Trump.

6079_Smith_W

Okay, I wasn't aware that if Colin Powell said it that makes it okay. I'm sure women everywhere will  be just fine with that.

And lose some steam, or perhaps lose their minds at the thought of Hillary becoming president. Not surprising considering they haven't yet accepted that Obama was, and he's just about done.

I would love it so much if Obama, some time in early January, asked a staff member to fire up Photoshop and make him a Kenyan birth certificate, then "accidentally" leak it on Reddit on his last day in office.

Maybe it's cruel to want to torment people with nothing much else to care about, but when one starts barking and then they all just start barking, that's funny.

Wikileaks: The Two Faces of Hillary Clinton on Syria - by Sharmine Narwani

https://www.rt.com/op-edge/362819-clinton-emails-syria-wikileaks/

"A 2012 email released by Wikileaks last year shows that behind the scenes, Clinton's State Department was calculating its Syria policy using entirely different metrics than its publicly stated narrative of supporting reforms and rejecting violence.

Arming a Syrian rebellion from outside the country was already a consideration from the very beginning, according to a recent Wikileaks release of a June 2013 speech by Clinton. Certainly we know that by early 2012, the Obama and Erdogan administrations had struck a deal to establish a rat-line transporting weapons and ammunition from Libya to Syria - via the CIA and MI6 and funded by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar."

Citigroup Chose Obama’s 2008 Cabinet, WikiLeaks Document RevealsBy Tom EleyGlobal Research, October 16, 2016World Socialist Web Site

One month before the presidential election of 2008, the giant Wall Street bank Citigroup submitted to the Obama campaign a list of its preferred candidates for cabinet positions in an Obama administration. This list corresponds almost exactly to the eventual composition of Barack Obama’s cabinet.

The memorandum, revealed by WikiLeaks in a recent document release from the email account of John Podesta, who currently serves as Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair, was written by Michael Froman, who was then an executive with Citigroup and currently serves as US trade representative. The email is dated Oct. 6, 2008 and bears the subject line “Lists.” It went to Podesta a month before he was named chairman of President-Elect Obama’s transition team.

The email was sent at the height of the financial meltdown that erupted after the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers on September 15. Even as Citigroup and its Wall Street counterparts were dragging the US and world economy into its deepest crisis since the 1930s, they remained, as the email shows, the real power behind the façade of American democracy and its electoral process.....

....of course this is not newsworthy, according to the CBC's expert panelists and investigative reporters!

Normally anything headlined "Global Research" is going to be spin. But this is actually an important story. Why? Not becuase Citibank dicatated the cabinet - that e-mailca me from an Obama team member who worked for Citibank - proof of what we've long known, the revolving door bwtween both parties' operatives and big business. This is important, the [url=https://newrepublic.com/article/137798/important-wikileaks-revelation-is... They could compromise if they wanted to.

If he wasn't such an arrogant, self-centred jerk I'd probably feel a lot more sympathy. Him being willing to throw the outcome of the U.S. election up in the air because of his personal vendetta, and gambling that Trump won't want to extradite him certainly doesn't help either.
