Groups Decry Trump Plan to Demand Social Media Passwords at US Border

Raising concern about the violations of privacy occurring in the name of U.S. border security, a coalition of consumer rights groups on Tuesday launched a new campaign opposing the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) so-called "extreme vetting" practice that requires travelers to reveal their social media passwords.

"Even if you support 'extreme vetting,' password for entry is an extremely bad idea that sacrifices privacy and digital security for political posturing and 'security theater,'" said Nathan White, senior legislative director at Access Now, one of the 29 organizations launching the 'Fly Don't Spy' campaign.

"We're launching this campaign today to make it clear to Secretary John Kelly that we will not tolerate discrimination or a reckless disregard for privacy and cybersecurity," White added, inviting others to include their name on a petition directed at the DHS chief.....

Trump’s Fake War on the Fake News

Who is out of touch with the public?

67% Dems

62% Reps

58% Trump

I know that we are 18 months out of the 2018 elections, the dems have wasted 1/4 there time of fighting bernie rather doing some reforming.  Trump is more in touch with the average american, hell even Reps are even more in touch the public.  How can the Dems the party of "the people" be out touch of the with their average voter?  People seem to be aware that the Dem message only message is trump is "bad man" and don't worry the russians did it.

Russia did it and bad man messaging is falling flat, you need provide some goodies for the gerenal public. The problem is the Dems don't want to drop their base of money support from the corporatist sector.  People are seeing through the spinning of the Dem party.

Interesting cherrypicking from the article. Omitted of course was the following:

A pair of polls released Sunday showed President Donald Trump approaching his 100th day in office with the lowest level of support any modern president.

Forty-two percent of people in an ABC/Washington Post poll said they approved of Trump's performance so far, while 53% said they disapproved. An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll had 40% of respondents saying they approved of Trump and 54% saying they disapproved.

Did Donald Trump Commission Russia’s Hack of the US Election Himself?

Sources linked to the intelligence community say that Donald Trump accepted laundered Russian money which, through shell companies, supported Russian hackers as they attacked America – and then supported Wikileaks and Julian Assange as he published the results of those hacks.

Donald Trump’s link to the hack on the US election appears to be far more direct than anybody thought – with Russian money, washed into his campaign, paying for Russian hackers who attacked both state voter registration databases and the DNC. Trump also appears to have had direct personal knowledge of the propaganda botnet used by Russia.

Reign Of Idiots

The idiots take over in the final days of crumbling civilizations. Idiot generals wage endless, unwinnable wars that bankrupt the nation. Idiot economists call for reducing taxes for the rich and cutting social service programs for the poor, and project economic growth on the basis of myth. Idiot industrialists poison the water, the soil and the air, slash jobs and depress wages. Idiot bankers gamble on self-created financial bubbles and impose crippling debt peonage on the citizens. Idiot journalists and public intellectuals pretend despotism is democracy. Idiot intelligence operatives orchestrate the overthrow of foreign governments to create lawless enclaves that give rise to enraged fanatics. Idiot professors, “experts” and “specialists” busy themselves with unintelligible jargon and arcane theory that buttresses the policies of the rulers. Idiot entertainers and producers create lurid spectacles of sex, gore and fantasy.

"The centre does not hold" by Yeats is truly a prophectic statement of our times.  I been watching the global economy for about a decade and a half.  I remember reading books and websites that before the collaspe of 2008 were predicting that the US economy was on the verge of massive housing bubble and a credit crisis.  In the parlance of modern lingo it would have been called "Fake News" today and conspiracy talk before the crash.  Then it happened and almost crashed the world economy.  Large parts of Europe and the US were shaken to the core and people lost a lot of wealth.   That loss formalized what was happening for decades before the before the crash. The global economy was no longer shielding the masses in the west.  The citizens started to feel the economic pressure from capatilism, not the minorty groups because they have been have been feeling lash of poverty and exclusion from public life since the founding modern democratic state.  No but the equilant of the "american god fearing, hardworking, middle class indivudal" all over the western world.  They were feeling the strains of capitialsim that the the majority of the world felt on a daily basis.

Which the crash of 2008 all that changed.  The myth of capitialism that it raises all boats was elimnated for the western public for many. Populism is the response to the economic instabilty of the those individuals that believed in the system but they rudely informed that were no longer needed as clogs in the former great capitalist  enterprise that we experience on the daily basis.  There was the always racial minorties and destitute people but social control schemes were pretty effective.  From the heavy hand of the law to the general welfare schemes to allow the desitute to survive phsyically were pretty effective for decades.  For the large part the mythical middle class did not care about the situation becasue it did not affect them.  But the days of the middle class delusion are coming to an end, not that people in the former middle class may want to "Make America Great Again" but the imperatives of the global economy under capitialism makes the good all times a non starter.

Trump is not cause of todays ills he is merely one of those figures that raise to power when people are fearful economically and angery at the their lose of there former status.  I think that trump like figure is a rationaly responsive to the environment that the US is in.  The democratics decided push more of status quo, they were the equilivant to be tone deaf.  For all trumps faults and there are many he figured that he could harnass the anger and economic insercurity that the many face today.  He spoke of better times that the average american felt was slipping away because of their control the global economic system was no longer absolute.  The democratics total ignored these ideas and said were living in a time of plenty.  Nothing to see here just move on.  And the in a move in a utter comtempt trump supports were called by Hillary were bigets and undesirables.  People will vote for hope.  Trump offered hope and Hillary defended the status quo.

Where does this leave Canada.  Like I mentioned before that the centre will not hold.  Canada did not go through the process of some delaveraging like the US.  When road out 2008 in decent shape but our time will come when the housing bubble crashes to reality.  Then we find like in europe that when people suffer economically the status quo parties were be elimanted and political polization will occur.  Those parties that supported the status quo in Canada will lose their privelges places with voters.  Someone has to take the blame for the what will happen in the after time went the hosining bubble goes.

And let add abit about the major central banks, on the web they get alot of bad press for the left and right.  But in my view is that the major central banking are proving life support for the global economy by creating tons of credit/debt.  They like those believe who believe that the in "Making the global economy great again".  But the ship has sailed.  What ever comes in the future will not be the same as what was before the crisis in 2008.
