Al Franken needs to resign sooner rather than later

While not endorsing the content, I thought Trump's speech today was quite good, considering it was Trump. Great for the patriotic, militaristic, exceptionalist, rich, and not me. He managed to last for almost half an hour, without making any considerable gaffes. I doubt however this alone will get him out of the political basement.

If recent history is anything to go on, his government is doing everything to annoy as many Americans as possible. Tax breaks for those who don't pay anyway. Gutting medicare and Green America. Muzzling departments like Harper did.

"Vote for me and I'll shorten your lifespan somewhat. But I'll also be shortening the lifespans of the millions you hate. Worth it, isn't it?"

Okay so clearly you think money, sex and colour have nothing to do with power. I'm not going to bother arguing that with you I'm just surprised you are on this site.

Money has no power over someone who doesn't do things for money. Bill Gates has a lot more money that me, but if he called me and asked me to do something I didn't want to do, I wouldn't do it. Sex has power only in that males are generally stronger physically than females. What colour has to do with it is beyond me. Do I have power over people who aren't white like me? No, I don't.

As far as Franken's over the top apology, I think he was still trying at that point to save his career. As far as Tweeden feeling 'violated' by the picture I'm sorry but I find that a bit hard to believe. After all, she had been a Hooters waitress and a Playboy model. I don't think that makes her fair game, but at the same time it does weaken the 'bruised innocence' story. As does this, a picture of Tweeden groping a musician on stage on the same tour. Unless those are 'flak' pants the musician is wearing, that really is groping.

It doesn't matter whether or not she was distressed by his actions. I don't care if she was previously a prostitute, or a murderer, or a groper.

Women refrain from complaining because they lose their careers for nothing because usually the men go on as if nothing happened. Weinstein had agents investigating the women. That takes money. Yes, men are physically stronger and that does make a difference. Young women were warned not to be interns on Ghomeshi's show. Women lose career opportunities to avoid sexual predators. Minority women are even more vulnerable to sexual harrassment and exploitation not because they are willing to trade sex for money but because they don't want to lose their jobs. Bill Cosby drugged women. Time after time women have been discouraged from coming forward because it would destroy their careers.

So yeah, gender, wealth and race have a great deal to do with who gets victimized.

As the picture I posted clearly showed, she is a groper. In fact, that picture was a still, part of a video which shows Tweeden sidling across the stage to rub her butt against the guitar player's rear. The still was just very shortly after that.

Now, as a test for consistency, let's ask this question. Should Fox Network ask Tweeden to resign in light of the picture that shows her to be a groper, and engaging in inappropriate sexual behaviour?

Or is it okay as long as a woman is doing it?

That's up to Fox News and their viewership. I know she doesn't have my respect not that she ever did. If she were a  senator and I were American I would most definitely call for her resignation assuming the advance was unwanted, something I don't know because I have no idea what the relationship was between the two of them.
