Is the current USA President a Russian 'asset'?

It appears Mueller's investigation is just warming up.

There are even rumours out there suggesting that Fox News is being investigated by the FBI.

If the current USA President actually is a Russian 'asset' does it not make sense that he would be doing everything in his power to shut Mueller down if he can?

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper: Putin is handling Trump like a Russian 'asset'

  • Former US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin was handling President Donald Trump as an intelligence "asset."
  • Trump has frequently praised the Russian leader and expressed the desire to foster closer ties with Russia. The two also share similar views on numerous topics, like the media and the ongoing Russia investigation.
  • Clapper said Putin appeared to be using his past experience and training as a KGB officer in "managing a pretty important account," referring to Trump.

Maxine Waters Connects the Dots on Trump, Deutsche Bank, and Russia

Mueller’s bank subpoenas could shed light on Trump associates’ ties to Russian money-laundering.

For Waters, and perhaps for Mueller, too, the question is: Are these two things related? Did Trump, Kushner, and their partners—along with others in Trump World, including Paul Manafort, Gen. Michael Flynn, and Wilbur Ross, the billionaire who serves as Trump’s commerce secretary—benefit from illegal Russian money that flowed through Deutsche Bank? If so, does President Trump have a hidden obligation to Russia or to Russian oligarchs? And why did the official US investigation of Deutsche Bank’s illegal transactions, conducted under the auspices of Jeff Sessions’s Justice Department, go “dormant” earlier this year?

Senate Russia investigators are interested in Jill Stein

The net is widening, eh!

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/why-are-senate-russia-investigators...

Why are investigators interested in Stein? The environmentalist, an advocate of better relations with Russia, has been a Kremlin favorite since her first run as the Green Party's presidential candidate in 2012. She has regularly appeared on Russian state-owned television, including RT, and famously sat across from Russian President Vladimir Putin at a 2015 gala dinner.

"The Russian embrace of Jill Stein was anything but subtle," said Andrew Weiss, a Russia expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. "Russian state propaganda outlets like RT had a field day with her strident attacks on the U.S. political establishment, and they seemed to work hand in glove."

Clint Watts, an NBC News analyst who has been tracking Russian election interference at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, said that Russia's intelligence agencies "sought to play both sides of the political spectrum to elevate Trump and turn down turnout for Clinton."

voice of the damned

I think it might be the case that the Russians wanted Trump to be a Russian asset, and Trump wanted to be a Russian asset, but the deal never actually got formally consecrated. Which doesn't neccessarily rule out that illegalities might have taken place.

As for the Greens, I'd probably agree with a lot of their critique of US foreign policy, but things like holding their candidate's debate on Russia Today probably didn't help their credibility. (And if you think that makes me a Russophobe, what would Canadians think if the Conservatives held their leadership debate on Voice Of America?)

And, not that I don't enjoy the topic, but couldn't this have been integrated into the RussiaGate thread?

The Jill Stein thing is just a distraction to take the light off of a Trump.  As for him, just follow the money.

Of course she would deny it. Putin paid her to.

There's also breaking news about illicit Kenyan financing of both Obama's campaigns. I'll post a link in a moment.

The rich Republicans and Democrats now have what they want, which is the tax cuts on corporations. Now they can let Trump swing in the wind.

I think Steve M. has it right on this one:

Steve M. wrote:
But congressional Republicans didn't need Trump for those goals. Do you think President Pence would have vetoed the tax bill? Do you think he would have nominated a series of RINO judges in the mold of David Souter? If congressional Republicans really believe that their best move is to rid themselves of Trump as soon as he's no longer of use to them, they could have started down that road months ago. They could have ratcheted up their own Trump-Russia investigations instead of slow-walking them and stonewalling.

I don't think that Trump is likely to do particular things, execute particular policies, that might forward Russia's interests as a great power. However, his presidency is likely to weaken the United States as a power centre, and it increases the chances that government of the people, by the people, for the people will perish from the earth, which suits Putin just fine.

Well if he is, it seems he is having a bit of buyer's remorse. Or maybe it's just an election year.

In a presentation showing off their proposed new nuclear arsenal, Putin showed a video of missiles heading for Florida, where the president spends most of his time golfing.

Maybe he's showing how much better their destroy America videos are than the K-pop versions.

But under questioning during testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee, he acknowledged that the White House had not asked his agencies — the main American spy and defense arms charged with conducting cyberoperations — to find ways to counter Moscow, or granted them new authorities to do so.

“President Putin has clearly come to the conclusion that there’s little price to pay and that therefore ‘I can continue this activity,’” said Admiral Rogers, who is set to retire in April. “Clearly what we have done hasn’t been enough.”

No. He's an American ass-hole...

And I think the videos aren't the only thing he has picked up from Kim. He seems to also have picked up his petulant tone:

"No one listened to us," Putin said. "Listen to us now."

Maybe he has forgotten what led to the breakup of the Soviet Union.

US Training Europe To Use Tactical Nukes Against Russia Is Threat To Non-Proliferation - Lavrov

https://on.rt.com/902w

"US programs which train non-nuclear powers on how to use American tactical nuclear weapons violate the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said. Lavrov criticized the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on European soil as well as the involvement of non-nuclear states in training programs, at a session of the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva on Wednesday.

'Everybody should understand that the US military are preparing the militaries of European states to use tactical nuclear weapons against Russia,' he stressed."

Today's response from Russia and its development of new weapons systems was inevitable. Time to get back to 'jaw-jaw' instead of 'war-war'...

Perhaps it's time to stop the anti-Russia hysteria and banging the wardrums Smith?

6079_Smith_W

I'm not the one waving around nuclear missiles saying no one listens to us listen to us now.

For that matter, I am also not the one who poisons people because they call him shorty.

If we want to talk hysteria and wardrums.

Though when you consider that Trump isn't going to do a damn thing to him, I expect this has a lot more to do with things back home, and in Syria, than any supposed threat from the west.

And I'll say it again; exactly this venture is what broke his country last time. True they have a far stronger capitalist resources this time, but still...

NDPP

You do know  Trump's 2018 Defence budget is more than that of the next 8 countries combined, right? And setting aside the fond delusions of  Russiagate chumps that he's Putin's 'asset', the anti-Russia agenda and belligerency of the current US administration is quite well documented and beyond dispute. But have no fear -  our little Banderite Foreign Minister is on the same page as you..

6079_Smith_W

So that's why Putin has to follow Kim's lead and make videos of him nuking the evil empire and proclaim that now people will listen to him?

To be honest, I have always taken him to be way smarter than to pull a ham-handed stunt like this - one which reveals his vulnerability more than anything. Forbes Magazine has named him the world's most powerful man for four years in a row, and here he is whining about people not listening to him. Do you seriously believe that?

But then, when you consider the kind of nonsense people fall for, this show actually makes a bit of sense.

'Listen To Us Now': Putin Unveils New Russian Nuclear Arsenal (and vid)

https://on.rt.com/908e

"Russia has developed a number of advanced weapons systems, including a nuclear-powered cruise missile, which make all US capabilities aimed at undermining the Russian nuclear deterrent obsolete President Vladmir Putin announced.

He suggested that the US abandon its costly and inefficient hostile plans towards Russia and start negotiating a serious arrangement which would take Moscow's interests into account.

'You now have to aknowledge this reality, confirm that everything I said is no bluff - which it isn't - think for some time, send into retirement the people stuck in the past and incapable of looking into the future, and stop rocking the boat that we are all riding in which is called planet Earth', he said.

'Russia would be responsive if talked to as an equal partner..."

Putin's Message Couldn't Be Clearer: We Need To Stop Provoking War We Don't Want & Which No One Can Win

https://twitter.com/OffGuardian0/status/969275052221808640

"The Western media will call Putin's speech, and the announcement of new weapons a sign of 'Russian aggression' and he 'threatens to start an arms race.' But that was not what it was. This was the Russian response to 20 years of US aggression and unilateral arms deployment. It was the response to NATO encroachment on Russia's borders and to the attemped destruction of the balance of power that MAD ensured. This is the response that Putin had announced eleven years ago in Munich.

It will take some time for 'Washington' to understand what Putin means. Get real, he says. There is no longer a point in trying to achieve a unipolar world. Missile defence has become useless. It is time to talk. In his words: 'I hope that everything that was said today will bring any potential aggressor down to earth.'

Does anyone in the West understand the real point of Putin's comments about Russia's new weaponry? The Guardian's coverage (Putin Threatens US Arms Race With New Missiles Declaration) shows us their masters see this as just another chance to cast Russia as a dangerous rogue state. The western press has basically opted out of analyzing this, so let's do it for them...."
