Woo hoo! This is nice to see.
Alabama Senate Race: Can Moore Lose?
It's good news that he lost but the following is shocking:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/dec/12/roy-moore-defeat-trump-f...
75% of white men and 70% of white women voted for Moore even though he is a white supremist, or perhaps because he is one.
At a rally in September, he was asked by an African-American voter in the audience when he thought America was last great. “I think it was great at the time when families were united – even though we had slavery – they cared for one another,” he said. “Our families were strong, our country had a direction.”
It shocks me to the core that anyone could think that nevermind say it, and say it in public, and say it to an African- American. That his support was above 70% is mind-boggling. I would be surprised if he isn't high up in the KKK.
It is ironic that POCs are saving whites from themselves politically and environmentally.
It's all so bizarre. These are people who have been brainwashed from birth and denied a modern education.
Hey, it isn't Sassy's fault he belongs to a racist and homophobic pedophile!

I addressed this upthread. Alabama's economy never fully recovered from the destruction of the agrarian economy following the Civil War, and since the Democrats haven't addressed that, that has allowed Republican cretins to pine for the "good old days" when Alabama's economy was strong under slavery, as Moore all but explicitly stated.
The one upshot is that Jones' victory allows Democrats a chance to organize, take power in next year's election, and then implement a policy programme that addresses this challenge. However even if the Democrats win, I would count on the opposite happening. These are Democrats, and that party is more into political opportunism than working on behalf of the people.

So given the number of times that Jones has voted with the Republicans, what point was there to electing a Democrat in the first place? Why not just have a Republican sit in that seat?
