In another thread, JKR asked for my opinion on systems that are superior to Canada's single payer system under separate provincial authorities. This is a rather large scope project, deserving of its own topic. From a shortage of doctors to a fear of change to a shrinking taxpayer base coupled with an ageing population, how can we improve healthcare delivery.
To start, the delivery of healthcare in Canada has devolved into rationing of budgets by managing expectations via tight control of information that can produce political blowback should the truth escape into the public domain.
I have no axe to grind, no agenda and merely wish to better my own understanding of both our system and better models. I believe a two tier system may be better to reduce wait times but only from my own limited interactions and anecdotal evidence. I'm pretty much a technopeasant hence not a thorough researcher but I will strive to answer JKR's interesting question.
