The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement enjoyed its greatest success when Argentina’s national soccer team decided to cancel its friendly match against Israel’s national team, in protest against the recent killings of protesting Palestinians. The Football Federation of Israel and the company in charge of organizing the now-canceled friendly match between Argentina and Israel will demand FIFA expel the Argentine team from the 2018 World Cup in Russia due to alleged “religious discrimination.”

Canadian Federation of Students endorses BDS
The Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) endorsed the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement on Monday and condemned the “ongoing occupation of Palestine.”
The endorsement followed a decision on the same day by Airbnb to stop listing rentals in West Bank settlements and a vote by the Quakers in Britain to divest from firms profiting from business activity over the pre-1967 lines.
The CFS resolved to support BDS activity including approving financial donations of up to $500 to any single pro-Palestinian organizations. The organization of more than half-a-million members, which has 64 member unions across Canada, also condemned Israeli “atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza and [reaffirmed] the Federation’s commitment to BDS and anti-war organizing.”....

This is against my principles, against my constitutional rights. And it’s also against my moral and ethical values, considering that I am a Palestinian American and I have family that actually live in the Occupied Territories, so it affects me personally, as well.” So, it affects me in both ways—as an American citizen and as a Palestinian American, too.
She was kind enough. We have a really good relationship with her. And I’ve known—like I said, I’ve known everybody for nine years, so I have a really good relationship with everybody at the school district. And she tried to—”Let me see if I can go around it.” After two weeks, she returned back to me and apologized and said, “I’m really sorry, Bahia, but they said they will not pay you if you do not sign this part of the new compliances.” And so I kind of had to, you know, forcefully leave at that moment and couldn’t return.

Birmingham Civil Rights Institute Reinstates Award for Angela Davis After Public Outcry
Back in the U.S., the board of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute has voted to reaffirm leading activist and civil rights icon Angela Davis as the recipient of its Fred L. Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award, after previously rescinding the award over her activism for Palestinian rights. The institute withdrew the award days after the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center sent a letter urging the board to reconsider honoring Davis due to her support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. The decision was met with widespread condemnation. The board offered a public apology for the move earlier this month.
Irish lower house passes bill to ban Israeli settlement goods
The Israeli foreign ministry has reprimanded Ireland's ambassador Alison Kelly after the lower house of Irish parliament voted in favour of a bill that will ban the purchase of goods and services from the illegal Israeli settlements.
In a statement, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it was a shame that Ireland "condemns the only democratic state in the Middle East".
"Israel is outraged over the legislation against it in the Irish parliament, which is indicative of hypocrisy and anti-Semitism," the statement said.
Last December, the upper house of the Irish parliament, the Seanad, voted in favour of the decision despite attempts by the United States, European powers and Israel to thwart it.
The bill, put forward by independent Irish Senator Frances Black, seeks to ban the import or sale of goods produced by settlements in the occupied West Bank.
It was then passed on to the Dail, the lower house of Irish parliament, by Senator Niall Collins from the largest opposition party, the Fianna Fail.
On Thursday, the Dail overwhelmingly backed the bill by a vote of 78-45.

Dutch Mainstream Left Party Endorses BDS, Boycotts Israel
Netherland’s political movement Green Left Party became the first mainstream movement to endorse the boycott of Israel. The Green Left Party has 14 seats out of 150 seats in the lower house of the Dutch Parliament.

Federal Court Of Canada Rules Against Labelling Settlement Wines “Product Of Israel”

OTTAWA — Independent Jewish Voices Canada (IJV) applauds Dr. David Kattenburg for his successful application to the Federal Court of Canada for a judicial review in the matter of wines sold in Canada that are labelled “Product of Israel” despite their being produced in Israel’s illegal West Bank settlements. The Federal Court agreed with Dr. Kattenburg’s position that these labels are “false, misleading and deceptive” and that, “as such, they contravene the requirements of subsection 7(1) of the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act and subsection 5(1) of the Food and Drugs Act.”
IJV is proud to have intervened in Dr. Kattenburg’s case at the judicial review hearing in May 2019 after having been granted intervenor status by the Court. IJV was considered to have sufficient knowledge of and familiarity with the labelling of products made in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, while B’nai Brith Canada’s simultaneous application for intervenor status was denied on the basis that they did not possess any such expertise.

I think they are convinced that Palestinians should be treated like they are Canaanites in the Book of Joshua. Imagine the discrimination experienced by the Israelis in the West Bank, oy vey the suffering they have to endure.

“The Federal Court ruling was deeply problematic and we are very pleased that the Attorney General will be moving forward with an appeal,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo.
“There is nothing misleading labelling a wine as a product of Israel if it is produced by Israelis in an area controlled by Israel,” Benlolo said. “We are hopeful that the Court of Appeal will overturn the ruling, which we feel effectively discriminates against Israelis in the West Bank.”
