Well I think it is a good idea, especially considering donations to actual political parties are deductable. And because the audits have been targetted at specific groups in a very partisan way.

An Ontario judge has pulled the rug out from the Canada Revenue Agency's political-activity audits of Canadian charities, ruling the Income Tax Act infringes on the constitutional right to free expression.

Monday's ruling immediately quashes a longstanding rule limiting to 10 per cent the resources any Canadian charity is permitted to devote to political activities.

If they eliminated poverty, why would they need to continue to exist? Even people who want to alleviate poverty must act in their own self-interest. Social choice seems to be as iron a law as supply and demand.

Maybe they didn't WANT to continue to exist on those terms. Maybe they were hoping to work themselves out of a job. Maybe not everyone who works with the poor is a poverty pimp.

Your argument is the moral equivalent of making the claim that soldiers don't want the wars they fight to end, because then they'd be out of a job.

Just to save time...have you now become a TOTAL misanthrope? Do you now work from the assumption that everyone in the entire human race is "only in it for the money/fame/power/sex"? And if so, would you apply that theory to YOURSELF?
