We should be having an earthquake drill in the Lower Mainland once a year, not to scare but to prepare people, but will the real estate industry allow it? I doubt it!

What's an "earthquake drill" look like, tho? Someone on the radio saying "get to the nearest place that's not affected by an earthquake"?
"Don't let the slight wobble disconcert you -- it'll be over in less than two seconds and you can tweet about it then!"?
"Stop, drop and roll, to extinguish the earthquake"?
Well played, anyway. If you have such a drill, you can say that you called for it. And if you don't have such a drill, you can say that you predicted that Big Real Estate could override the government. Can't lose.

Here NR maybe you can get some ideas from Burnaby. It has been a couple of years but in fact our municipalities do pay some attention to emergency planning including earthquakes.

There should be something similar to Neighbourhood Watch set up, say a maximum of 200 people in each group across BC, so that everyone in the group can help look out for their neighbours, particularly the most vulnerable such as the seniors, the challenged, etc. A local muster station could be set up where water food first aid clothing communications and shelter can be stored Maybe all those billion dollar high tech companies could pay for it as part of the price for being allowed to do business in BC

Or, the people of BC could pay for their own help by way of taxes (as the price for being allowed to buy from Amazon instead of some local mom-and-pop).
Right wingers seem to think the Left just wants to pick the pockets of anyone with anything in those pockets, and logic bedamned. Don't make them be right about that. It's really not Google's fault if some parts of Earth have earthquakes.
