Here we go again. It is more than enough. Shut the RC Church down!

"A Pennsylvania grand jury report, made public Tuesday afternoon, names 300 Catholic priests who allegedly engaged in sexual abuse of children and youth over the course of decades. At least 1,000 victims is likely many times that figure. The massive report is more than 1,000 pages long. Among the cases detailed in the report are the following..."

Is it time to abolish religion as religion-related abuse is widespread. Liberals in particular need to be very careful as they are very closely connected to the Catholic Church

Rather than just running off half-cocked to do this, perhaps there would be value in studying the history and strategies of those societies who've managed to abolish religion before us.

Mr. Magoo

So how do we get rid of them, NorthReport?  Just a new law banning all religious belief?  Or do you have better ideas?

Unionist

Stupid conversation. Freedom of religion is part of our culture and society. We simply need to abolish all religious influence in public affairs (such as schools, hospitals, etc.), and tax exemptions. And lock up child molesters until they repent publicly. That should do it. Meanwhile, people must be free to believe and practise whatever they choose, except where it deprives others of their human rights.

Besides, if the Protestant establishiment (with the help of groups like the Orange Order and the KKK) hasn't  managed to "shut it down" in 400 years I don't think you'll have much luck now.

NorthReport

Simple. Just sue their asses off until they have to sell all their assets. Once their money is gone, no one will give a tinker's damn what they do. It's all about money, all the time. It always is, and it always will be. Once their money is gone, then their power will be gone, and they will never ever again be able to pull off the capers they have been getting away with since they began.

Fascinatingly, it seems that a Catholic Priest can be excommunicated for, among other things, discarding the Holy Host (those dry cracker things) but not for child abuse.  I wonder, in the special case of the clergy, whether the threat of an eternity of damnation might be an effective deterrent?

Certainly, if there is a God, Hell might be the punishment.  But when you're excommunicated, you're basically sentenced to it before you die, while your friends and family watch.

Names! We want the names of every priest involved and we are not gonna rest until we get them Francis is involved in this giant coverup as are the rest of the RC Church hierarchy says a protest group.

Unsurprisingly American victims seem to have drawn world attention in ways others have not.

Yes I have wondered about that. Does this mean there are no victims outside the English-speaking world which is absurd.

But regardless, we need to abolish the RC Church everywhere just like we need to abolish guns everywhere!!!

In fact when I successfully sued the Catholic Church I tried to get that avenue opened up in settlement discusions. I was told that it was a sin like all others and since the priest regularily confessed his sins then he was still a good catholic. I even tried attaching a large dollar discount and that didn't work either.
