There are 14 affiliates in the BC Building Trades and a few others but the rat union, which has been banned from at least one other province, obviously will not be participating.

I found the list in the text of the agreement: (A Community Benefits Agreement between BC Infrastructure Benefits Inc. and Allied Infrastructure and Related Construction Council of British Columbia). As an Ontarian, I find it interesting that there is no Unifor or Steelworkers on the list. Also, that CMAW is the only non-CLC affiliate. CMAW is affiliated to CCU.

All Organized Labour in Canada should belong to, or at least affiliated with one national body. There is one main reason why so many of our unions in Canada are International (read: USA Head Office and Decision-Making Location). The moment any international union got wind of their Canadian section wanting to leave the Canadian local (s) would immediately be put under trusteeship and the Business Manager and the entire Executive Board would be fired on the spot, and EBoard members of course will always look after themselves first brfore the rank and file. For confirmation of this look at all these tiny unions that should have merged many moons ago but didn’t, and won’t, because it would mean the EBoard members losing their personal power and positions.

That is pretty much the traditional list for the building trades in BC. Unifor and the Steelworkers have no affliates in the construction industry in this province so why do you find it strange they are not on a list of construction unions?
