Vancouver, BC [November 28, 2018] – Most Canadians share the same point of view regarding the origin and development of human beings on earth, a new Research Co. poll has found.
In the online survey of a representative national sample, two thirds of Canadians (66%) say that human beings “definitely” or “probably” developed from less advanced forms of life over millions of years.
Conversely, one-in-five Canadians (21%) think that God “definitely” or “probably” created human beings in their present form within the last 10,000 years.
In Manitoba and Saskatchewan, 41% of residents believe in creationism—a significantly higher number than in all other provinces. Quebec has the smallest proportion of respondents who identify with creationism (10%).

I have a problem with the term “less advanced forms of life” for the simple fact that there is no such thing as any less advanced forms of life.
Even the term evolution is out of date. And not surprising since it’s over 150 years old
I believe terms/words such as changing adapting modify and mutation would be better or more accurate
Many life forms exist almost unchanged for millions of years, and they are just as successful and abundant
I suspect that the belief of other life forms being in any way inferior is a part of creationism.

The word is actually older than the observed phenomenon we call it by.

To say that dolphins are more advanced than paramecia is not a value judgement. You won't find a zoologist saying that one animal is "inferior" to another.
As for the article, I guess I'm not that surprised. It is interesting, though, to see SK and MB's young-earther numbers so high, though. Maybe the other provinces could send them some science books or something?

The irony there – and it's one that hits hard – is that the young-earth fundamentalist Christians have exactly the same attitude about people who fail to agree with them: it's just because they haven't been exposed to the book that explains it all. I say this as someone who despises that kind of false equivalency. Having grown up in the Bible Belt, where 98% of people are evangelical, the evangelicals still go forth every day expecting to meet "savages" who've never heard of the Bible and just need to be told the right stories to join the ol' Kingdom.
None of which is to put the KJV and the Origin of Species on the same shelf. Just to say that "they disagree because nobody's told them the truth" may not be the winning approach.

my first thought was 'most everybody who is not religious moved away from Sk and MN.'
pondering i think trending away from fundamentalism if the evangelical portion of my family and their friends is anything to go by.
what's happening in the US with the evangelicals supporting Trump pushed things too far for them. they all used to be snowbirds and aren't going anywhere near there this year.
the content on their social media has changed too. it's more "Christian" and less bigoted.
