JERUSALEM — In the most expected surprise declaration of 2018, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced the dissolution of Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, and elections to be held in early April. The move comes days after U.S. President Donald Trump roiled the region with the startling announcement he was immediately withdrawing U.S. troops from Syria, and as his long-anticipated plan to renew peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians appears to be have shriveled. https://www.thedailybeast.com/israels-government-collapses-amid-corrupti...
Raphi Bloom vs Miko Peled at Kings College - FULL DEBATE
"And when the angels said, 'O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah]" (The Quran 3:45).
There is something beautifully sacred about the moment in the Quran when the angels inform Mary she is about to give birth to Jesus. Angels bring her the good news. They tell her of how "He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous."
The sublime innocence of Mary at hearing this news can hardly be better captured in any scripture: "She said, 'My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, 'Such is Allah; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is" (The Quran 3:47).

n a chilly January morning in Nazareth, a group of young Americans of color, some swathed in kaffiyehs, performed a traditional Arab folk dance before chanting “Ferguson to Palestine, end the occupation! Ferguson to Palestine, we fight to free our nation!”
Captured on a 10-minute video, the protest was entitled “Solidarity Demonstration in Nazareth: Ferguson to Palestine” – an effort whose impact on the progressive far left is still being felt today.

WHEN EACH NEW CONGRESS is gaveled into session, the chambers attach symbolic importance to the first piece of legislation to be considered. For that reason, it bears the lofty designation of H.R.1 in the House, and S.1 in the Senate.
In the newly controlled Democratic House, H.R.1 – meant to signal the new majority’s priorities – is an anti-corruption bill that combines election and campaign finance reform, strengthening of voting rights, and matching public funds for small-dollar candidates. In the new 2017 Senate, the GOP-controlled S.1 was a bill, called the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” that, among other provisions, cut various forms of corporate taxes.
WASHINGTON (JTA) — Sen. Bernie Sanders said it was “absurd” for Republicans to introduce as the Senate’s first bill of this Congress a measure that would protect states that penalize Israel boycotters.
“It’s absurd that the first bill during the shutdown is legislation which punishes Americans who exercise their constitutional right to engage in political activity,” Sanders, I-Vt., said Sunday on Twitter, linking to an article in The Intercept about the legislation.
President Donald Trump says he will not sign any funding legislation that does not include over $5 billion for a wall with Mexico, triggering a government shutdown entering its third week.
“Democrats must block consideration of any bills that don’t reopen the government,” Sanders said. “Let’s get our priorities right.”
Top Israel lobby figure Adam Milstein is one of the leading purveyors of racial hatred and Islamophobia targeting Rashida Tlaib, the Michigan Democrat who has just been sworn in as a member of Congress.
Milstein is chair of the Israeli-American Council and has been named as a principal funder of the anti-Palestinian intimidation site Canary Mission.
He has lately been joined by President Donald Trump who claimed Tlaib “dishonored her family” when she used an expletive calling for his impeachment. Since then the abuse directed at her has spiked.
Tlaib is the first Palestinian American woman elected to Congress and, along with Minnesota’s Ilhan Omar, one of the first two Muslim women elected to the body.
During her campaign, Tlaib accepted support from J Street, a liberal Israel lobby group that opposes the Palestinian right of return and the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement for Palestinian rights.
Didn't know about Rashida Tlaib's funding by J Street. Thanks for posting.
Senate’s First Priority for 2019: A Bipartisan Crackdown on Free Speech
A newly appointed Israeli minister on Sunday dismissed the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state in the West Bank and called for the occupied territory to be annexed.
"Settlements are the new Zionism of the 21st century,” Immigration and Absorption Minister Yoav Galant said.
During an election campaign stop in an illegal Israeli settlement in the West Bank, Galant said: "I am clearly saying no to a Palestinian state. It is not possible to have more than one state west of the Jordan River.”

We are all familiar with the term “anti-Semitism” and its meaning/s, despite the fact that some current application of the term can be seen as either a misuse or manipulation of the true meaning of the original term. It is time we get used to the term “Anti-Palestinianism”. ■ Anti-Palestinianism is just as morally repulsive as anti-Semitism or any form of racism and discrimination.
WASHINGTON — Several prominent veteran Democrats, alarmed by the party’s drift from its longstanding alignment with Israel, are starting a new political group that will try to counter the rising skepticism on the left toward the Jewish state by supporting lawmakers and candidates in 2020 who stand unwaveringly with the country.
With polls showing that liberals and younger voters are increasingly less sympathetic to Israel, and a handful of vocal supporters of Palestinian rights arriving in Congress, the new group — the Democratic Majority for Israel — is planning to wage a campaign to remind elected officials about what they call the party’s shared values and interests with one of America’s strongest allies.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Monday that he will not renew the mandate of the international observatory task force that has been monitoring the divided West Bank city of Hebron for twenty years.
"We will not allow the presence of an international force that operates against us," Netanyahu said Monday.
The force's mandate, which comes up for renewal every six months, was due to come to an end on January 31.
The military Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said it learned about it from the media.
The Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) was established in 1997 as part of the Oslo Accords’ Hebron Protocol, which allowed the partial redeployment of Israeli military forces to the part of the city that remained under its control. The force was later expanded as part of the Wye River Memorandum, signed in 1998 by Benjamin Netanyahu, then serving his first term as premier, and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

Jewish Voice for Peace’s announcement that it opposes Zionism as an organization, published quietly on its website earlier this month, has thus far come and gone without much fanfare or public attention. It simply wasn’t surprising for many.
“This doesn’t change anything about our focus or our political analysis,” JVP’s executive director, Rebecca Vilkomerson says, explaining that the change is not a huge departure for the organization in either practice or principle. “It just names something that hasn’t been named before.”

British comedian and champion of Palestinian rights Jeremy Hardy has died of cancer aged 57.
Born in England in 1961, the BBC radio star made his name on the comedy circuit in the 1980s, starting out as a scriptwriter before turning into a stand-up comedian in his early 20s. He has since become known for his strong political views which were often reflected in his work.
“When I started out I just wanted people to laugh and then I thought I need to have a message in this,” Hardy told MEMO in an interview in 2017 at stand-up comedy fundraising event “Give it Up for Palestine”.
“I felt like I’ve got a platform and people are listening,” he said. “So I kind of ended up trapped forever as a political comedian,” he added with a giggle.
Israeli forces killed a Palestinian girl at al-Zaayim checkpoint in the occupied West Bank east of Jerusalem on Wednesday.
Israeli police claimed that Samah Zuhair Mubarak attempted to stab a security guard at the checkpoint before she was fatally shot.
The Palestinian Authority health ministry gave Mubarak’s age as 16, and media reported she was in the 11th grade.
No Israeli soldiers were injured during the incident, as in many previous cases in which an alleged Palestinian attacker was killed.

The Zionists are absolutely frothing at the mouth enraged about anybody getting the idea that they can be separated from the Israeli people. Just ask one!
This is of course, in order to continue to uphold the pity for what happened at the hands of the Nazis, to the benefit of the Zionists. Nothing could be more wrong, as the Zionists support treatment of the Palestinian people that is an equal crime against humanity.
WASHINGTON — Representatives Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota were hailed as symbols of diversity when they were sworn in last month as the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress, Ms. Tlaib in her mother’s hand-embroidered Palestinian thobe, Ms. Omar in a tradition-shattering hijab.
Four weeks later, their uncompromising views on Israel have made them perhaps the most embattled new members of the Democratic House majority. Almost daily, Republicans brashly accuse Ms. Tlaib and Ms. Omar of anti-Semitism and bigotry, hoping to make them the Democrats’ version of Representative Steve King as they try to tar the entire Democratic Party with their criticism of the Jewish state.
