Trudeau has been MP for SNC-Lavalin for a very long time but the clock is now ticking on his leadership.

Sure is a lot of denial within Canada

I think perhaps the denial is being fed by something else: Canadians really do not like their political options so much that they want to deny the problem because they do not know what to do about it.

I think that this scandal might resonate with the public more if there were any alternate parties Canadians would feel comfortable with. Sad for the NDP supporters here, but Singh and the NDP do not give comfort to most Canadians.

For partisan purposes this is the election Tom Mulcair could have won. He was acceptable in 2015 to most, safe enough as he worked hard to portray. He did not succeed in 2015 becuase people  wanted change not some safety -- good enough. They went for the flash of Trudeau. This time people do not want change but they want to punish the Liberals. Mulcair could have been that. Sucks for him that he did not show enough contrition in 2016 to keep his job as he might have topped the polls now.

The two right wing parties have resistance to growth in part becuase they have demonized supporters of the NDP and Liberals and they are able to inspire few other than their current supporters.

It would not shock me to see the Conservatives win the election with the same number of votes as they had in 2015. That this happen simply due to disgusted people staying home...

Agreed.

Seriously doubt it! The icm would be all over the ndp and attacking Mulcair. Even if Jag and the ndp were polling in the mid to high 20’s right now, the icm would be seriously attacking.

This is why I don’t really go for polls. I sincerely believe that some of them, maybe not all, intentionally try to imply what should be important to voters and misdirect them.

The Times trivializes Canada and  most of the World. I have so many American friends who think Canada is a Liberal Valhala where ruggedly handsome men sing Joni Mitchell songs to baby elk.

This article trivializes the SNC Lavelin scandal.

Very much.

Did I just see a multiquote post here that included someone saying that, in addition to the NYT trivializing SNC-Lavalin, it also trivializes Canada generally, with references to Americans thinking it's a "Liberal Valhalla where men in lumber jackets sing Joni Mitchell songs all day"? I ask because it not seems to have vanished, and I want to make sure I'm not losing my mind.

EDIT: Oh, now the quote seems back, if indeed it even went away.

(Why is my post above so much more elongated than the others on this thread?)

I think the problem's not with your post, but with formatting characters in the post above it. It's a recurring problem with links and quotes on this board, going back quite a few years.

Thanks. And on that topic, I can only recommend tinyurl.com

Exactly!

Very racist and disturbing. I cringed when I read that ‘political correctness’ angle.

Does North Report even read these articles he posts? WTF???

Given the sheer number of articles that NR posts daily it is impossible for him/her to have read them all. Personally since most of his links are to imperialist media sources I seldom even look at his posts unless someone else comments or they are from a news source I might read anyways.
