Who should be represented in the federal election debates for the October 21, 2019 election & why?

Obviously the Liberals, the Conservatives, and the New Democrats should be represented at the election debates this year.

Which parties participated in the previous election debates?

Should any other political parties be invited to participate and if so why?

Traditionally, party leaders participated in at least two nationally-televised debates during the federal election – at least one each in English and French. These debates were produced by a consortium of Canada's major television networks.[28] In May 2015, the Conservatives said they would not participate in the consortium debates and instead would take part in as many as five independently staged debates in the run-up to the fall federal election.[28] Ultimately, the Conservatives agreed to participate in a French-language debate organized by the consortium of broadcasters as one of their five debates.[29] The New Democratic Party confirmed that Tom Mulcair would accept every debate where the Prime Minister was present. The NDP had previously confirmed their intention to participate in both of the consortium debates before Stephen Harper withdrew[30][31] but ultimately only participated in the French language consortium debate which included the Conservatives.[29] Liberal leader Justin Trudeau attended the Maclean'sGlobe and Mail, and French consortium debates; and the Liberals confirmed he would attend the other debates.[31][32][33][34][35] The Bloc Québécois attended the French language consortium debate and confirmed their attendance at the French-language TVA debate. The Green Party attended the Maclean's and French language consortium debates, and confirmed their intention to participate in the English language consortium debate.[31][34][36][37] Strength in Democracy, which had the same number of seats in the House of Commons at dissolution as the Greens and Bloc Québécois, were not invited to participate in any of the televised debates. The leaders of the party objected to their exclusion and launched a petition demanding that all parties represented in Parliament be invited to the debates.[38] Other minor parties without representation in the House of Commons were not invited to participate in any of the televised debates.

Mr. Magoo

The Green Party, yes?

Why not, but why?

Last election the debates were quite a dog's breakfast, weren't they!

Mr. Magoo

Do they not have a seat in the House?

NorthReport

1 out of 308 seats equals less than 1% of the seats.

Is that enough?

But they also have 6% in the latest poll.

The question of participation by the Green Party this election is complicated by the existence of the People’s Party. If May participates, so should Bernier. And that would be a big mess.

I think that used to be one of the conditions -- a seat in the House.

It's not up to me, but if it were, I'd explicitly restrict that to an earned seat (in other words, won under that party's banner).  That would exempt the Greens back in the day (before May won properly) and would exempt Bernier this time.

Thread title should read “who’s invited to the icm debate, and who’s not”.

But that would be to radical for the faux babble progressives and half the comments in the thread would be about how furious these posters are over being offended by a provocative thread title threatening their fragile precious barely progressive world.

Heres a template you guys can use “how dare you offend the msm! icm stands for bla bla bla and you better stop using icm, if you don’t we’ll just ridicule you because we’re just not comfortable with radicals. Why can’t you be like the rest of us and be happy and accept the garbage the msm shuves down your face and up your ass!”

Anyways, who cares who the icm invites to their puppet showcase display?

It’s all going to be set up to ensure Jag and the NDP doesn’t get any traction.

Please spare us the paranoia

Interesting suggestion but would the Liberals accept that as I’m sure they want Bernie’s there n’est-ce pas?

Who gets to decide?
