How the heck are you guys having wildfires at the same time that the water on the sidewalk here still freezes at night?

Very sorry to hear that, NR. I hope the weather turns around for you guys and that you get some rain the way you need it.

Thanks A24

We are supposed to be a rain forest but March it hardly rained at all.

The rain has started in the at least the Lower Mainland area now and is expected to last a few days at least on the coast.

I think it was last year where they said BC at one point had the worst air quality on the planet due to the fires.

I was glad to hear the Alberta government is going to build a second highway out of Fort McMurray

But we absolutely have to seriously address climate change, and immediately, or else.

And look at California., and people still challenge global warming.

It has been pretty bad where you live as well, hasn't it?

We had an intense dry spell last spring to the point that I cannot ever remember people being as happy to have rain as when we did. Lake Winnipeg was far lower than I had ever seen it. We had a brutal winter. There was a high amount of snow, unfortunately with concern of a rapid melt that also brings potential flooding. The real problem there is that the water just washes away and doesn't sink into the ground. It's actually much worse in southern Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Canada is warming at twice the rate of the rest of the world and the Arctic and West Coast are warming even faster. But hell lets build a pipeline and LNG plants because that is the way to prevent climate chaos.

I have woken up in bizzaro world.

And some are calling for above-normal temperatures for your part of the world all the way through summer

U.S. warns of another busy wildfire season, but B.C. cautious to sound alarm

“There are some pockets of high in areas, but I think it’s important to recognize that at this time of the year, most of the fires that we see are human-caused, which means they’re entirely preventable,” she said.

Officials are pointing to their FireSmart program that features tips for homeowners to protect their properties, including removing dead leaves, loose firewood and other combustible materials surrounding homes.
