What a disgrace. Reminds me of Phil Fontaine's craven support for Israel.

Adopting @TheIHRA definition is a critical step in the fight against #antisemitism. If you live in @CityofVancouver urge City Council to adopt @sarahkirby_yung’s Combatting Antisemitism Motion (Council week July 23rd) it only takes a moment. Click here
Told you she wasn't worth her weight in dog shit. Seems I have been right about a lot lately. Still crying for this woman?
Comparing an indigenous womans worth as a human being to dog shit.
It is such a breath of fresh air to have Svend Robinson back in the running! Until the NDP inner circle decides to ban him, that is.
His tweet is
here.
lol...no. And even if I did just because she is Indigenous she can't be questioned, criticized, lampooned or personally attacked (without any racism on top of it)
What's with the politically correct act,Paladin? Go clean your guns.
It is disappointing. If I'd known she had such disregard for Palestinians, I probably would have spent less time and energy defending her to Liberal-voting friends and relatives.
The comment had nothing to do with her being indigenous and you know it. IT was that Wilson-Raybould is trying to silence the solidarity community for another oppressed people. There's no reason for the fight against antisemitism-a fight everyone on the left is part of-to make it impossible for people to speak out against the injustices the Israeli government inflicts on the people of Palestine.
JWR has direct ties to the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affarirs. You can see photos of her on their website. They are fairly progressive on Canadian domestic issues, and they don't openly support Bibi's worst policies and nominally support a two state solution, however they don't recognize that the root cause of the Israel-Palestinian conflict is the occupation and talk as though the two were equal parties. And CIJA supports IHRA.
Vancouver Granville is the Outremont of Western Canada and any politician who wants to get elected and stay elected is going to stay on good terms with its Jewish communities. But that tells us what JWR's priorities are.

With all due respect, brookmere, we "Jewish communities" aren't a monolithic voting bloc. So please be careful about your implications.
Having said that, this just in. And Jody Wilson-Raybould, you and your pandering bullshit can take a long hike.
How wonderful!
I think brookmere is commenting on what a politician perceives as a monolithic voting block. An accurate one at that to considering the huge lack of support for the Palestinines at the political level in many of the western nations.
It is not a monolithic voting block but I believe it is far more pro-Israel than Jewish communities in other places. The other problem is the peace activists from all religions are not as powerful as their war hawk brethren. I feel sorry for young Canadians that have to resist the siren song that is peddled to them. This is like a timeshare resort sales pitch on steroids.
I was talking specifically about Vancouver Granville. As kropotkin noted and I implied, its Jewish communities are a lot more conservative than you might find elsewhere. Even the ostensibly liberal communities represented by CIJA are uncritical of Israeli policies.
Anyway, thanks for the news from Vancouver.
So grateful IJV exists and I look forward to their updates and news in my inbox to help navigate all these assaults on the left for supporting the human rights of Palestinians.
Just like all women leaders or candidates are not necessarily representing progressive change or worthy of support, not all Indigenous leaders or candidates deserve an automatic pass on their record of unprogressive views and actions. This is just another example of Jody Wison-Raybould's true stripes - she is not a left-leaning trailblazer, she is probably on the extreme right of the Liberal spectrum - possibly more conservative in her views than Paul Martin or Michael Ignatieff.
Thanks to IJV for their involvement in this, and for all else that they do.
I agree. They are a courageous, effective and potent minority within a powerful and influential community unfortunately still supportive of Israel and its ever-growing influence in Canada. I wish there were more like IJV. Every year I stand with their members and others who never number more than 10% of the blue sea of flagwavers and every Canadian politician of significance in Toronto who 'Walk With Israel', [This year it was 30,000 marching FOR and 300 protesting AGAINST] and see the resources, media, money and power backing Israel I appreciate their efforts more and more. Especially of those who talk plainly of what they are up against. All the more reason not to minimize or deny the strong base of support here for the Apartheid enemy.
What happened to Jewish Voices for Peace?
I think Jewish Voices for Peace still exists but it's based in the US.
Jody Wilson-Raybould was in the news again, tandentially. The results of a 3rd party judicial review of the Hassan Diab extradition case were announced yesterday. Diab's lawyer Donald Bayne calls it a whitewash that exonerates the federal Department of Justice's actions, taken under Stephen Harper's tenure.

I do know that 25 years ago JVP was active on Canada. I signed a petition put out by the JVP in Toronto to stop the violence against the Palestinians.
I think you're mistaken. JVP was founded in 1996 (23 years ago) and never had any Canadian section, to the best of my memory. They certainly don't have any now.
They are active on Facebook and I was certainly on and continue to be on the JVP mailing list. Kind of like CodePink - a US based group but I still get email updates.
Ok. Then it wasn’t JVP. I thought it was. Thanks people.
'I'm a principled strong woman' Says the oppurtunist selling a book. She is a fraud and she has put our country in grave danger. To hell with her.
Figured indigenous women in Canada have enough problems with settlers dehumanizing them that it doesn't need to be continued on a progressive place.
