Regardless of what he said almost 15 years ago, Scheer now says he supports marriage equality, and even if deep in his heart he doesn't, there's nothing he could do about it upon forming government, unless he wanted to invoke Section 33 and overturn court decisions, provoke a few riots across the country, and make Canada look less progressive than Iowa.
He SHOULD attend Pride, but that was true even before this old video got dragged up from the crawlspace.

Does anyone know what Scheer’s job experience was before he went into politics?
the only thing i cannfind is that he worked briefly in an insurance company.
he may have a thinner pre-politucs resume than even Justin

Of all the things to criticize politicians over, that strikes me as one of the stupidest, whether it's going after Ruth Ellen Brosseau for being a bartender or Scheer for being elected too young. Not every politician should be a Bay Street executive before adding elected office to their CV.

No, Scheer does not support gay marriage.
He says that he accepts the existing law and won't try to change it, but he's still a social conservative who is against it personally. There's a clip of Rosemary Barton asking him about this on CBC a couple of years ago.
Scheer tolerates the law because he knows it would be too risky to go against the Canadian mainstream, but he is still farther to the right than most Canadians on social issues like gay rights.

Only goes to prove that even a broken clock is right at least twice a day. And so is Scheer about Trudeau's awful CUSMA sellout. But Trudeau is correct the CONS are free-trade flip-flops. Aside from the odd empty theatrical flourish such as Scheer's, all the major political parties in contention are sold out six ways to Sunday when it comes to standing up against US hegemonic influence. Unfortunately, many Canadians seem to have adopted the same 'go along to get along', American ass-licker, acquiesence.
