Corcoran is no fan of socialism. I wonder what gave it away, eh!

Barricades are a tool that appear to be succeeding in Canada, used to promote a radical remake of Canadian society
This columnist did not mention that the reason that the Wet'suwet'en and other nations have withdrawn from the treaty process is because to get self government they have to sign of on indigenous land title extinquishment. The poison pill in the process is to bitter to swallow.

I'm not sure burning tires is going win protestors much support.
Being silent also wins no support. Protesting peacefulyl alongside (not on) the tracks did not win support.
In a colonial society, anything the colonized do will be rejected by the colonizers. The only solution is to end colonial attitudes and forge a new relationship.
You know, what "reconciliation" was supposed to mean.
The chiefs should meet with the federales it shows goodwill

Do you expect the Wet'suwet'en to abandon the fight because some arrogant white Premier says they have to?

The BC NDP pushed the false narrative that the band counsels had said ok and that was enough. Now after having a blockade drive home the point they seem to have understood that the band counsels are not relevant. Note that they were not invited to these historic meetings.
And after all it is not the Band Councils but the Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Chiefs themselves that have already been duly recognized and credentialed as legitimate brokers, who already are negotiating through a BC-based process. So there's certainly no cause for official alarm. There is no 'sovereignty' struggle here, despite the wishful thinking of some supporters. Beyond the tussle over policing and pipeline access to a small portion of the total territory the chiefs wish to preserve pristine, there really isn't an insurmountable problem except stubborn governmental patterns of arrogance, inflexibility and refusal to accommodate special concerns. Like the expansion of a nine hole golf course at Oka. And we all remember what that led to. Governments should beware.

That's what happens when racist assholes think they have the support of the government. To bad the federal Liberals and BC NDP are intent on ramming pipelines through unceded territories without consent. They like Trump in the states have created an atmosphere of "us" against "them" and right wing misogynists answer those dog whistles by attacking indigenous women.
