rabble's COVID-19 webinar April 15th

Hey folks, rabble is hosting a webinar on COVID-19 on April 8th. Details can be found here. On the panel will be rabble's parliamentary reporter Karl Nerenberg, former NDP deputy leader and author of Outside In: A Political Memoir, Libby Davies; and special guests Winnipeg Centre MP Leah Gazan, and CCPA senior economist David Macdonald.

Quote:

As this health crisis continues to unfold, we have the option to fight for our most vulnerable -- precarious and low-wage workers, people facing homelessness, migrant workers, seniors -- and of creating new policies and an approach to inequality and climate justice that will live on well after this crisis is over, and perhaps change the course of history. We can't give in to those exploiting the coronavirus crisis to push for no-strings-attached corporate bailouts.

Yes, it's been changed to the 15th. I'm changing the thread title to reflect that.

..well the webinar finished a little while ago. the direction we need to go in was laid out. same kind of things we discuss here on babble.

..what was lacking though was the how tos' of it all. some things were talked about coming from the fed ndp but at the same time it was clear that the ndp just doesn't have the policy nor the inclination to go where the discussion was pointing to. and in fact the bc was brought up as part of the problem re: indigenous rights.

..so the vehicle/vehicles for change remain up in the air.

The COVID-19 pandemic: what's next in Canada?

April 15 2020, the latest episode in the "rabble takes on Ottawa" webinar series looked at pressing issues around the COVID-19 pandemic for workers and for marginalized communities and considered the question of what the crisis means for addressing inequality and climate justice. Watch award-winning parliamentary reporter Karl Nerenberg; former NDP deputy leader and author of Outside In: A Political Memoir, Libby Davies; Winnipeg Centre MP Leah Gazan, and CCPA senior economist David Macdonald, for this exclusive online discussion.
