Dimitri Lascaris lawsuit against B'nai Brith

Back in 2016, B'nai Brith accused Dimitri Lascaris of "advocating on behalf of" and "supporting" terrorists, in an effort to silence his defence of Palestinian rights. He launched a lawsuit for defamation, which has been criss-crossing the court system since then. B'nai Brith has tried to stop the action, so far unsuccessfully, hilariously appealing to anti-SLAPP legislation (they should know!). The Supreme Court of Canada last week put an end to B'nai Brith's obstruction, and the lawsuit can now go ahead.

Wonderful news Unionist. Thanks for bringing it here.

Shouldn't this be big news? It's a Supreme Court ruling impacting a major organization and a candidate for Green party leadership.

I agree, it should be news. It's not actually a "ruling", though - just a refusal to hear an appeal. The decision in March 2019 of the Ontario Court of Appeal should have made the news. Not sure if it did, but I doubt it.

Not much, but I posted it from Lascaris Twitter somewhere here. Welcome back.

I am out of touch with Quebecois politics now, but perhaps Dimitri Lascaris could run for QS or join the NPD federally.

That would be terrible. He is dedicated to eco-socialism. The Green Party is a much better vehicle for him to achieve that once Paul is gone.
