When Israel is compared to apartheid South Africa, it suggests to many Israelis a South African one state solution with a Palestinian (Mandela) as president. Palestinians would be a majority as were non-white non-European South Africans and Jewish Israelis would no longer live in a Jewish-majority state. It would be a return to the minority status they had in the Christian states of Europe like Germany and Poland and Russia. They didn't do too well for all those centuries, especially the 20th. Something might be worked out, though.
