Pondering

That is great news. Republicans have declared war on each other. MAGA/tea party have tasted success. They will not believe they can't achieve it again. They will want Trump 2024 or one of his kids.  Trump's attempts to steal the election and those who supported him will not be forgotten by moderates particularly in the states he has tried to steal. Trump is the best thing that has happened to Democrats since Obama.

US election: YouTube to bar videos alleging widespread voter fraud

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-55255121

"YouTube said on Wednesday it would start removing content that falsely allege that widespread voter fraud changed the result of the US election. Democrats have criticized YouTube for not doing enough to take down fake news and conspiracy theories on the platform."

But not Russiagate ones because they're true.

josh

Russiagate had factual support.  One can argue over its implications.  Saying Biden did not win the election is a lie.  He won by over 7 million votes and over 300 electoral votes.

More on Kassam:

In July 2019, the Australian Labor Party called for Kassam to be banned from entering the country. Shadow Home Affairs Minister Senator Kristina Keneally said "We should not allow career bigots — a person who spreads hate speech about Muslims, about women, about gay and lesbian people — to enter our country with the express intent of undermining equity and equality."

In October 2019, Kassam began co-hosting War Room: Impeachment, a daily radio show and podcast with Steve Bannon, to nudge the White House and its allies into taking a more focused and aggressive posture to counteract the impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump.

While ballots were being counted in the 2020 election, Kassam promoted false claims by Donald Trump intended to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the election.

How does any of that help with anything slightly progressive or left wing? These are websites promoting the common rightwing trope that the problem with democracy is that poor people and people of colour are having too many of their votes counted. As if that is the problem with US democracy and not the ubiquitousness of dark money, the gerrymandering of districts or the disenfranchisement of votes through the drug war and the criminalization of poor people. What is the value of  posting this garbage here? Is it just to troll Josh?

You don't have to be US-centric to get what the above websites are trying to do, although the right in the US are certainly masters at it. This isn't 'alternative media.' This is well-funded right-wing organizations trying to disenfranchise black voters. Pretty gross. And yeah Biden totally sucks.

The primary purpose of the postings is to provide an inside overview of this MAGA movement, its positions and projects vis a vis the contested US presidential election.  This is simply not available in msm but can be glimpsed and approached through the links I have provided. Because this developing insurgency also includes Blacks and poor people in significant numbers your contention the linked websites are 'promoting the common rightwing trope that the problem with democracy is that poor people and people of colour are having too many of their votes counted' would be directly contrary to their political project of expanding a grass-roots mass movement and of exposing what they truly believe to be a stolen election. Indeed it sounds far more like typical conventional descriptions from liberal msm than what I've found thus far. And in fact, what is contended is that their votes were NOT counted. Hence 'Why Every Legal Vote Matters.' Many seem not even for Donald Trump but feel they are defending the integrity of the American election system itself. There are many strands involved and it is far more complex and nuanced than most of what we read and hear.

This is a huge story of great splits opening up in the body politic of America. It is a fascinating one full of twists and turns and contradictions that the msm does not begin to do justice to. They push only their 'side' of the story and leave great holes in the other. I post pieces of those holes that are of interest to me thinking it may of interest to others also.  That some here apparently  believe I am secretly prosletizing for White Supremacy, Donald Trump, the Republican Party, Vladimir Putin or 'the right',  is not only wrong but ridiculous.

Republican politicians know that Biden clearly won the election a month ago but Republican politicians also know that they have to support Trump's authoritarianism because Trump will destroy their careers within the Republican Party if they simply tell the obvious truth. Like any would be dictator, Trump will use his power to keep people in line, even if it contradicts reality. Most Republican politicians know full well that Trump's a psychopathic, sadistic, malignant narcissist who is unfit for office. Unfortunately there are also a lot of useful idiots in Trump's cult of personality who aren't able to see through Trump's con. Wrong.  Again.  The tax investigation has nothing to do with the NY Post story.  Two separate issues.

The Kremlingate story has been well documented and is set forth in detail in the Mueller Report, among other places.  The Deep State did not force the folks in the Kremlin to hack Democratic computers and distribute their contents in an effort to defeat the Democratic candidate.

Too bad you don't.  And apparently have learned nothing from history about how authoritarian propaganda works.  Trump is line with authoritarian religio-fascists now in power, such as Netanyahu, Bolsonaro, Erdogan, Orban, Modi and Putin.  It's the gravest threat to democracy and the rule of law since the 1930s and 40s.  But keep on peddling the propaganda.  I've been on babble for 18 years and I've never seen anyone peddle the right-wing horseshit you have.  All the while hiding behind, "I'm just trying to understand it."

The greatest danger to America is the naive belief that there is something unique that guarantees America will remain a democratic civil society. Much of a major party has turned against democracy. It’s foolish to believe that doesn’t have consequences.

I think this is the required method for our current media landscape.   And it's good for progressives to see what the right is saying about itself and the left, it it's own words.   We cannot trust the MSM to fairly or accurately present the views of marginal groups on the left or the right.   I may join NDPP in posting the occasional right wing source here.

Mobo2000

Not right wing sources below, but revealing of the bi-partisan consensus around war and empire in Washington.  Trump's threat to veto, while spun as primarily concern for social media liability, clearly has a military element, which is why the NDAA was adjusted to restrict congress or the president from withdrawing troups until the Pentagon provides an assessment of how this would affect US security.  These sorts of fissures, between a right wing nutter outgoing president, and the establishment consensus, should be informative for the left.   There's stuff to dig into here.

Mobo, I don't think there's anything new or surprising in those articles. Both U.S. parties have been fully captured by the the military industrial complex at least since Eisenhower warned about it in his farewell speech. The first presidential election I remember clearly was 1960, in which one of Kennedy's main points in arguing against Nixon was a fictional "missile gap". Eisenhower and Nixon just hadn't been generous enough in their military funding, resulting in grave danger for the U.S.

Trump is only appearing to oppose some of the wars because he hopes it will please some of his supporters, but he is a total hypocrite on this subject. He has inflated the military budget even more quickly than his predecessors, and brags about it constantly. He also has a record of loudly threatening war, as he did with North Korea before he and Kim Jong Un fell in love, and as he did with Iran several times in the last year. He is no ally of the peaceniks.

It has always been the challenge of the American left to break through this bipartisan wall of imperialist war supporters. Some think a new party is necessary, some think a hostile takeover of the Dem party would be more feasible. I have posted links to several left analyses of this conundrum in the last year, so it isn't something new or surprising.

As far as most of the right wing trash NDPP has been posting, it would be fine if it were preceded by a sentence that said "Look at the crazy lies these right wing outlets are putting out. What a shame that so many gullible people believe it." But he doesn't do that, he just quotes it without comment, inviting the reader to see it as "This is the other side of the dispute, which the left is ignoring" rather  than "This is a set of outrageous lies which many right wingers unfortunately believe."

NDPP

That's rich coming from someone who promotes bogus right wing Russiagate agit-prop as relentlessly as you do. Michael.

So, what possible reason could  82% of Trump voters and some Dems have to suspect reported results of the 2020 US elections?

"...82% of Trump voters don't buy the results of the election because of a mistrust in our system over time."

It's been one hell of a year in the US and it's not over with yet

"In light of everything that transpired during its run up, the recent US elections have really opened a Pandora's Box. The mainstream media continue to totally dismiss claims of voting irregularities and fraud, without being willing to address the fact that the thing is remotely possible...Why is it necessary to look elsewhere, to 'off the wall' outlets for alternative views on the election? Some of their insights into election cyber-security, diverting votes by electronic means, Dominion Voting Machines, and old fashioned vote-rigging is starting to make sense, and a democracy should be concerned about such claims, not treat them as part of sour rhetoric..."

My sources on the issue of the hacking of the DNC network have been neither right nor left wing, but the best technical opinions from the best network security experts I could find. Being a software developer myself, I know how to read server logs, and I know how to understand technical discussions of this sort of matter.

Your sources on the other hand are without exception political and ideological, including not a single network security professional. And just to pre-empt your expected response, William Binney was never a computer expert. He was a talented mathematician, skilled in cryptography and intelligence analysis. However, in his later years, he has become increasingly eccentric, for example, appearing on Info Wars, the podcast of the notorious conspiracy originator and spreader, Alex Jones. A sad end for a smart and principled person.
