The sheer numbers of Palestinians is the key. If they have thousands of people rushing the Lebanese and Jordanian borders from both inside Israel and from the outside then maybe one of the border points will fall and allow tens of thousands of returnees across the border to reclaim what is rightfully theirs. I know this means little now but history tells us that all occupations, except for one kind, end in failure and withdrawal even if it takes hundreds of years. No matter if it was most of the known world under the General was Alexander the Great, whose empire quickly crumbled with his death, the British empire which only a century ago ruled a quarter of the Earth, or the Spanish empire which ruled nearly all of South America and a good part of North America, etcetera. The English ruled Ireland for 750 years under the brutal Penal Laws and Protestant "Plantation" (from which the American plantation got its name) settler process which even the Protestants now believe will end within 25 years in Northern Ireland joining the Republic as the Catholics are well on the road to becoming the demograhic majority. The English ruled Scotland for 600 years and face the distinct possibility of losing it as the Scottish National Party and the Scottish Greens now have a majority and are seeking independence in a referendum. In South America, in countries such as Bolivia, where indigenous people are the majority, they have taken control of the government. 

The only exception occurs when the occupier wipes out the culture or so many of the indigenous people themselves that they have now way of recovering and gaining power nationally, as is true in Canada, the US, and a few South American and a Caribbean countries. The Israelis cannot exterminate or reduce the Palestinians to a tiny, politically insignificant minority in the region. BDS may help the formation of a Palestinian state occur faster. However, in the end the Palestinians will win their homeland. The tragedy is that that may take a very long time and an awful (in the full meaning of the word) deaths.
