Trump pretending to be opposed to some of them was proof the left should oppose him. Anymore, even noticing who your government is killing today is practically a revolutionary act.

I remember when Trump started bombing Syria and listening to him, that he didn't sound like the same Trump who had run on the campaign trail.

Yes, his response so far has been morally bankrupt.  I didn't expect much from him on this issue, but he hasn't met even those low expectations,

There was a minor blip of what I thought was encouraging public outrage with the worldwide protests that happened in March 2003 before the US invaded Iraq.

I marched in Vancouver with my spouse and two sons and mother-in-law. It was a grand day spent with tens of thousands of peace loving people. But it was a turning point for our society. This global outrage was ignored and then the citizens in Western democracies did not punish the war criminals but in most cases rewarded them with reelection. Although I still protest sometimes it is with a sense of futility not with any real hope of enacting change.

NDP constituency associations marched proudly on that day. Not long after the NDP determined that NATO was not to be opposed but changed from within. My politics for peace and international cooperation have remained the same but now they are almost seen as anti-Canadian as our none stop propaganda machine revs up the war mongering and the Keeney O'Tooles of the world amplify the Hill and Knowlton imperial messaging.

Yeah there hasn't been that kind of moral clarity on the left since. I agree that one negative consequence was that feeling of the protests ending in futility but I think a lot of people were affected and radicalized by the movement even if it failed to stop the war. It completely transformed my politics. I was growing jaded but I still had time for debates about liberal interventionism. That is one benefit of the Republican party: they are good at peeling off the mask so that even the very naive can see what the US is really about.

Apart from not being a clown, has there been a single significant difference in Biden's foreign policy and Trump's?

I think the main difference was that Trump viewed his own enrichment as a national objective on the same level as U.S. military dominance. While Biden may well be personally corrupt, his own financial situation is unlikely to interfere with the purity of his imperialist foreign policy. With Trump, grift got in the way of orthodox policy from time to time.

White House embraces 'Wuhan-lab' conspiracy theory

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2021/05/27/pers-m27.html

"On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden publicly embraced the conspiracy theory that COVID-19 may have been released from China's Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), ordering the US intelligence agencies to produce a report within 90 days into the potentially man-made origins of the virus.

As with 'weapons of mass destruction', leaks from anonymous intelligence officials are being presented as evidence in a coordinated media campaign. Within a matter of a few days, the entire US media has embraced this discredited conspiracy theory, summed up by an article by the Washington Post's lead fact-checker entitled 'How the Wuhan Lab-Leak Theory Suddenly Became Credible.'

Lacking any positive evidence for their 'man-made virus' angle, both the Biden administration and the US media began to denounce the WHO report as untrustworthy. Such actions are part and parcel of the Biden administration's war drive against China.

Since taking office, Biden has attempted to create a political framework to wage war, backed by the media. These include claims of Chinese genocide against its Muslim Uyghur minority, potential Chinese aggression against Taiwan, and above all, the implication that the mass suffering of the past year and a half is ultimately because of - at best - China's neglect, or - at worst - the most lethal bio-weapon ever unleashed.

Now that Biden, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post have given life to the Wuhan lab lie, it will become part of the political bloodstream of the country. Having legitimized it, they will lose control of it as the extreme right-wing is strengthened by the propagation of such reactionary conceptions. It will serve as a motive for violent attacks on Asian [North] Americans which have surged over the past year..."

I suspect that Trump will not fare any worse with the current corruption investigation than he has in the past when confronted with proof of his company's corrupt and somewhat illegal practices. But who knows maybe he got sloppier. In the meantime the whole family is working the long con and hoping for a reset in the Oval Office.

Biden unveils $6 trillion budget aimed at addressing inequality; Al Jazeera; May 28, 2021

----------------

Biden’s program breaks with recent presidents’ budgets, which promised that policy proposals would turbo-charge gross domestic product. Biden’s central goal is instead societal change — attempting to reverse decades of widening income and wealth gaps that often fall along racial lines.

...

The proposed 2022 budget request includes funding for early childcare and colleges, investing in minority-owned businesses and grants to improve public transportation in poor communities.

“Where we choose to invest speaks to what we value as a nation,” Biden said in a statement released by the Office of Management and Budget. “It is a budget that reflects the fact that trickle-down economics has never worked.”
