Squamish – Veteran journalist and editor Cathryn Atkinson has joined rabble.ca as the new News and Features Editor, rabble.ca announced today. Atkinson has won five awards for her journalism, including a national U.K. Press Award presented to Children’s Express News Agency, the youth journalism and literacy project she ran for two years in the mid-1990s. She was a staff editor on the Comment and Analysis desk at The Guardian newspaper from 1999 to 2003. She has written for The Guardian, The Observer, The New Statesman magazine, Agence France-Press, Elle magazine, The Irish Mirror, The Globe and Mail, CTV Online and many other media outlets. She has also taken photographs for Reuters, Rex Features, The Globe and Mail, The London Times, Time Magazine, The New York Times and the London Evening Standard.

“rabble is very excited to have such an experienced journalist, editor and photographer as Cathryn Atkinson take on the new rabble position of News and Feature editor. Cathryn will be instrumental in expanding our growing coverage,” said rabble.ca Publisher Kim Elliott.

“I am pleased to be joining such a dedicated, passionate group of people. In my career I have tried to follow up stories that are ignored, undervalued and have much more in them than immediately meets the eye,” Atkinson said. “rabble is exactly the same way and in the coming months I think we’ll be producing stories that will make our readers eager to check us out.”
