Council of Canadians delivers 3,000 petitions to Canadian embassy.
Like many others we have lost our BlackBerry service today. We have been busy and away from a computer, but have text-messaged this report to Ottawa.
Three quick updates:
1. This afternoon we delivered just over 3,000 petitions – signed by Council of Canadians members – to the Canadian embassy in Copenhagen. The petition calls for deep emission cuts, climate financing for the global South, and a strong international agreement.
2. Maude Barlow spoke to a packed room at the Klimaforum on the tar sands.
3. Maude was also quoted on the front-page of today’s Toronto Star about yesterday’s ‘Reclaim Power’ march saying, “The message from this march is that legitimate, democratic dissent is not welcome here.”
