Tune in to rabbletv Oct. 1, 7:15PM for a LIVE event direct from Parliament Hill! NDP International Trade Critic, Peter Julian will be hosting the launch of the 30 city national tour of filmmaker Paul Manly’s film You, me and the SPP: Trading Democracy for Corporate Rule — and rabble.ca will be broadcasting the event live.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and Q & A, which will feature Paul Manly, Peter Julian, Teresa Healy (Senior Researcher, Canadian Labour Congress), Bruce Campbell (Executive Director, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives), Maude Barlow (National Chairperson, Council of Canadians) and Louise Casselman (Common Frontiers).

The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) is no longer an active initiative of the three NAFTA countries but many of the components have already been implemented or are still moving forward. The corporate giants and think tanks behind the SPP are in the process of rebranding this agenda.

It is highly unusual for a film to premiere in a parliamentary venue. Parliament Hill was chosen as the launch site for the national tour and Ottawa premiere because it is political representatives who need to face the reality of the SPP and understand the implications of this anti-democratic, corporate agenda.

In “‘You, Me and the SPP’ indepenent filmmaker Paul Manly interviews Naomi Klein, Maude Barlow, Murray Dobbin and Joel Bakan, among a host of other opponents of the SPP including economists, lawyers, union leaders and politicians.
