Health Care USA
Another thread here loads the dice for negative comments; here, it's bravo Obama ! He deserves it.
I think the compromise voted yesterday is quite good - in the circumstances - and do not want to wait another 37 years for a similar chance ( the period since the failed Ted Kennedy compromise in 1973)
A good assessment of its historic importance by E.J. Dionne:
I figure we can use this thread for the horror stories that are sure to emerge in the months ahead, about people who have been forced to buy private insurance (or have to pay a fine), and then have been bankrupted by medical costs when those shitty private plans refuse to pay their claims.
I don't really get why so many progressives are celebrating. The Republicans couldn't have come up with a better plan to reward their corporate buddies than this one.
So, not only is Obama presiding over the biggest giveaway to US private insurance companies ever with his travesty of a health care bill with no public option that requires people to buy shitty private plans or pay a fine, but he's also applauding the firing of EVERY SINGLE TEACHER at Central Falls High School.
