Hello all.

I have lurked on and off for years at this site, but finally registered an account today because I have something to say.  Please listen to me.

I am trans.  I also have something called Klinefelter Syndrome: that is, I have forty-seven chromosomes instead of forty-six.  I have three sex chromosomes: XXY.  This is actually a not uncommon event; it has the same stastical likelyhood as Down Syndrome because the mechanism is the same, just acting on a different chromosome.

People with KS are raised as boys, and the majority are happy that way.  A significant fraction of us, however, are not.  I am one of them.

Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives

The CLGA was founded in 1973 as part of The Body Politic, Canada's gay liberation newsmagazine of record during the 1970s and 80s. A hidden gem in Toronto, it has grown from just a few boxes of material to become the second largest LGBT archive in the world. Within our archives are the stories that illuminate contemporary queer life.

Since its creation, the CLGA has been there at the pivotal moments of the Canadian queer movement, curating and maintaining collections on life in Canada -- in addition to abroad as well. We capture the pulse of the community with material on the relevant people, organizations, issues, and events that have shaped queer culture. (Our collecting is guided by a stated mandate, the full text of which is available here online.)

Xtra Canada

Pink Triangle Press is Canada's leading gay and lesbian media organization. We are one of the most diversified gay media enterprises in the world.

Founded in 1971 to advance the struggle for sexual liberation, our defining activity is lesbian and gay journalism.

The press is a not-for-profit corporation, but we earn our revenues in the marketplace. To that end, we are active in many kinds of business. But everything we do is intended to support or fulfill our mission.

Lt. Choi won't lie for his country

Lt. Dan Choi, an Iraq war veteran, declared last March 19 on The Rachel Maddow Show, "I am gay." Under the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law, that's enough to get Choi kicked out of the military.
