Update: Deadline extended to October 4, 2015

In partnership with Unifor, rabble.ca is pleased to announce our fourth annual Labour Beat Internship. The placement will provide the successful candidate with unique opportunities to develop a grounding for reporting on national labour issues. It will involve access to meetings, conferences, media briefings and interviews with leaders in the labour movement, and may include shadowing rabble’s Parliament Hill reporter to committees and scrums.

Lori Theresa Waller was our inaugural labour reporter, bringing even more labour coverage to rabble with original stories and labour news roundups. In 2013-2014, we welcomed journalist H.G. Watson, who covered stories around work, labour and employment. And last year, we were joined by Ella Bedard, who was rabble.ca’s third labour beat reporter. You can find Bedard’s reporting right here and all of rabble’s labour coverage on our labour issue page

We are thrilled to once again be working with Unifor to offer this placement. The goal of the labour beat position is to equip the reporter with new skills and knowledge of the labour movement and workers’ issues so that not only will there be six months of solid reporting, but years of reporting in other media outlets.

Applications for the Labour Beat reporter are due October 4 and the position is for 12 hours a week for 39 weeks. This is a paid internship, sponsored by Unifor.

More information on this position can be found here (pdf).
