A new program of the Canadian International Development Agency is funding Canadian non-governmental organizations to help local populations deal with the impact of Canadian mining companies in their communities. Gwendolyn Schulman says this kind of relationship will impact the ability of NGOs to advocate for the people they serve. Schulman is co-host of Amandla, Canada’s longest-running African affairs radio program.
