The B.C. government is determined to flood thousands of acres of farmland and traditional territories in the Peace River valley. A court challenge may be the only way to stop the Site C dam.

RAVEN is an organization set up to raise funds for court challenges by First Nations. They are working right now to support the Treaty 8 Nations in their fight against the dam.

This interview was recorded two weeks before the BC government issued permits to allow work to start on the project.

Susan Smitten is executive director of RAVEN. She speaks with Redeye host Jane Williams.
