There are almost two million gig workers in Canada working in precarious, poorly paid jobs. Many of them are looking to unionize to improve wages and working conditions. But it’s a difficult task. A recent example demonstrates how hard it is — Foodora workers seeking to unionize under Canadian Union of Postal Workers got a favourable ruling from the labour board but Foodora shut down operations in Canada shortly thereafter.

Marc Belanger talked to CUPW national president Jan Simpson about the union’s attempt to unionize the Foodora workers.
