Occupy Winnipeg 1

Occupy Winnipeg to re-occupy

The Deets:

Thursday, May 10, 2012
7:00 pm start
Mondragon Cafe, Bookstore and Grocery
1-91 Albert Street
Winnipeg, MB

The Call Out:

7:00pm assemble at Mondragon then occupy Old Market Square.
Bring signs, tent, sleeping bag, food etc…

On May Day after the march we had a GA and there was consensus to occupy old market square even for just one night.

It is Jesse Gabriel’s birthday and we will help him celebrate it and he is new to occupy and will help us occupy with music (he is in the Flaming Trolleys marching band)

More info about the march and re-occupation can be found here.

Here is a link to view a history of Occupy Winnipeg that began on October 15, 2011, at Memorial Park and was finally shut down for “safety reasons” on December 21, 2011. Occupy Winnipeg was one of the longest lasting Occupy camps in Canada.

In their opening declaration, Occupy Winnipeg pledged to stay on site across from the Manitoba legislature from Oct. 15, 2011 to Jan. 1, 2012; though residents say they will “remain forever.”
