As a followup to the very successful Peoples’ Social Forum, PSF organizers are hosting a forum in Toronto to counter the Pan-American Economic Summit that will bring the heads of Shell, Rockefeller Foundation, Canada’s Finance Minister, ex-Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres and John Negroponte to Toronto from July 8 – 10, 2015.

Starting July 10, the counter summit will bring together activists, students, unions, Indigenous peoples, youth, environmentalists, and hundreds of ordinary individuals to “oppose the current political and economic direction of this country, and propose a plurality of alternative paths towards a better world.”

Workshops are the driving force and main substance of the forum — grassroots discussions, seminars, panels and presentations organized by individuals and groups within the 17 themes proposed by PSF organizers. The deadline to propose a workshop is this Friday, June 19. Most workshops will be 75 minutes, but three-hour slots can be accommodated if groups want to propose a more strategic planning session.

If you have a great idea for a workshop but are unsure you can make the deadline, email [email protected] and they will save you some space!

PSF Toronto will take place on Missassauga Anishinaabe territory, in the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at 252 Bloor St in Toronto. The forum is made possible through PSF host organizations, Rising Tide Toronto and the Mining Injustice Solidarity Network.

If you can’t submit a workshop proposal to the Toronto PSF this Friday, join their Facebook event page, RSVP and help spread the word!
