Getting to the Gate is a free online campaign school produced by Equal Voice Canada a multiparty organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in Canadian politics.To access the course, there is just a short free registration process.
Getting to the Gate also hosts Deep Roots Strong Wings, a resource guide for indigenous women running for office. Inspired by the lived experiences of First Nations women, it is a support for community members running for any leadership role. It covers the requirements and demands for all kinds of political positions, from Band Offices to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Though there are still many societal, cultural and institutional barriers to women participating fully in politics, this course is a starting point.
