We’re currently seeking volunteer interns — see snapshot descriptions of each below and download the full application package here. We offer an honorarium for those who successfully complete the internships.

Internship 1: News writing and editing

Work one-on-one with rabble editors and participate in some of the daily tasks involved in producing the site. Pitch news stories, take regular news-writing assignments and work with the editor to prepare articles for publication. The news intern will also gain experience in research and fact-checking.

Internship 2: Blogging and books

Take part in every aspect of the production of this multilayered books-focused section, from shadowing the editing of reviews to review writing. Help with the online events listing “book it” and assist the editor with administrative and other tasks as required. The blogging and books intern will also make regular contributions to and play a strong role in guiding the direction of the radio book lounge podcast.

Internship 3: rabble podcast network

Work with the rpn’s executive producer mixing and hosting podcasts, scouting material, conceiving promotional ideas for the network and sending out a weekly newsletter to the rpn mailing list. Produce original material, learn audio editing skills (or hone the ones you have), and work closely with a group of committed media producers and journalists at one of Canada’s most innovative media websites.

Internship 4: Activist toolkit

Help form this dynamic place for community activists to share workshop designs, posters, flyers, on-line tools and ideas. Help make these tools available, in order to inspire and support the people involved in community work worldwide by developing leaderships and helping organizations grow.

Applications are due by September 30, 2011 at noon PST.
