Dear rabble readers,

rabble.ca is blooming because people like you are answering our call to amplify the voices of activists, social movements and writers across Canada. We could not do it without our readers and supporters!

This holiday season, as we move into a new decade, will you join us in the fight for a better world and give the gift of media democracy? Support us at: rabble.ca/donate

Many of you were with us during the Summit of the Americas in Quebec City in 2001, when rabble officially launched. Since then, many more of you have joined us as we reported in solidarity with the Maple Spring in Quebec, Idle No More, Black Lives Matter, and climate justice movements. These are just a few key moments of our activist-fueled coverage.

Independent media is crucial to the health of our communities and building a more just world. With just a click you can build the momentum of our independent media work.

Yes, it’s challenging for progressives the world over to organize as far-right extremism surges and climate breakdown speeds up. But there is also much to give us hope and inspiration. Youth are standing up for social and climate justice around the world, including with climate strikes. There is growing resistance to austerity policies in Ontario, led by teachers and students; Indigenous resistance to resource extraction projects remains strong. These are inspiring movements, with bold and courageous activism emerging to shape a better future. At rabble, we bring you stories and analysis to engage and to inspire.

We bring these stories through extraordinary community-based funding without ever using a paywall. We know that accessible, reader-funded media with a commitment to the grassroots is what this country needs. The answer to the crisis in media is in people like you, reading and chipping in to support non-profit progressive and independent media. There is no one else we’d rather be accountable to.

No amount is too little! But if you donate $5/month or more at rabble.ca/donate, you can choose to receive a copy of Donald Gutstein’s The Big Stall as our thank you.

Donate $8/month or more and receive either a copy of Linda McQuaig’s new book The Sport and Prey of Capitalists: How the Rich Are Stealing Canada’s Public Wealth OR
a signed copy of Outside In: a Political Memoir by Libby Davies, as a sign of our appreciation.

In solidarity and peace,

Kim Elliott, publisher (and all of our rabble-rousing elves)
