In the continuing case seeking justice for Adam Nobody, the G20 Summit demonstrator who was beaten by the Toronto Police (this act caught on tape), two more officers are being investigated in an alleged additional beating Adam Nobody sustained later that same day.
Constable Babek Andalib-Goortani (who was not wearing his mandatory police identification at the time) has already been charged on Dec. 23, 2010 with assault with a weapon against Adam Nobody. He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 24, 2010.
Now a separate SIU case sheds light on Nobody’s allegations — as Nobody alleges he was beaten twice during the G20 Summit demonstration on June 26, 2010, once during his arrest by Constable Andalib-Goortani and allegedly again as he was held in custody by two plain clothes officers — the SIU is investigating the actions of Detective Constable Todd Storey and Detective Constable Luke Watson.
The separate case (being investigated by the SIU) involves the arrest of Abbas Jama but involves the same officers who Nobody alleges attacked him. Nobody’s lawyers went to court this week to gain access to the SIU report as they attempt to prove the link. The report is expected to be released shortly. This disclosure of evidence — just with the identity of Constable Andalib-Goortani — has been resisted by the Toronto police.
