Fight back against poverty and join the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty in a week of action for a living wage, Oct. 13-17. Find out how to get involved here!

So minimum wage in Ontario is now officially to $11/hour. But for the vast majority of people, it’s not enough. The increase still sits minimum wage below the poverty line, making it prohibitively difficult to live a safe and fulfilling life with that type of payment. Here’s a great rabble piece weighing in on the topic of job losses as a result of increased minimum wage.

It seems this debate is just another instance where politicians and leaders making hundreds of thousands each year continue to ignore the clear and evident needs of the majority.

If you think it’s wrong for cleaning staff work long and lonely overnight shifts to be paid a wage below the poverty line, or for Walmart employees to be forced to use a corporate food bank, consider organizing to raise the minimum wage.

Send a message to Premier Wynne to raise the minimum wage to $14/hr!
